Lovely hotel, all the staff were amazingly friendly, great atmosphere in the lobby bar and fantastic good in both restaurants. Would recommend the afternoon tea and brunch in Axis.

A London Treat

Posted Nov 11, 2014
Pros: Pretty much everything!
Cons: On my stay the only small fault was a slightly noisy air con unit although that settled down after the first night.
Location: Theatreland, the South Bank over the river, the Inns of Court, the Courtauld and other museums: all manner of things!
1 Aldwych is a special place for all kinds of reasons: the location (if theatre or the South Bank is part of your London trip where better to stay?), the friendly efficient staff, the super comfortable rooms, the facilities (especially the gym and excellent pool) and the fantastic lobby bar to name just a few. Yes - it is expensive but this is the middle of London and a little oasis of calm amidst the bustle is worth a lot, especially if you are the sort who likes the City mayhem as long as there is somewhere to retreat to when you have has had as much of that as you really want on any given day. To sit in the bar of an evening and watch the world go by is a treat in itself.

Perfect for theatreland.

Had a great two night stay here for our wedding anniversary. Room was small - but that's often to be expected in central London hotels - but staff were excellent - very personal yet non intrusive service - gym excellent and nice to have a pool too. Just be prepared for London prices when you have cocktails!

Perfect for Covent Garden and for theatres.

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: Location and service.
Cons: Nothing other than the rooms are a little on the tight side.
Location: Many many theatres, very good restaurants and shops right on the door step. Major apple store five minute walk.
Didn't have time to use the hotels own Spa or cinema and only had breakfast in the hotel as there are so many great restaurants nearby.

Lovely hotel

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: The bed, TV in the toilet, the afternoon tea, attentive staff
Location: Located on the strand, opposite Waterloo bridge and close to covent garden. Somerset house very near had some fantastic exhibitions and a lovely quiet
I booked this hotel for 2 nights with my wife for our first anniversary and what a fantastic choice, the hotel is clean, modern, comfy, relaxing and in a great location. The service from the staff is second to none. The room was spacious and came with a decent view from the 4th floor. The bed was so comfy, we could have easily stayed in all day. A must, book the 'Charlie and the chocolate factory' inspired afternoon tea, which is amazing. Fun for all ages. All in all a fantastic stay, would definitely go back again.

Theatre hotel

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: proximity to the chosen theatre and the overall d├ęcor in the Hotel. I did like the TV screen in the Bathroom, however it was a bit small.
Location: The hotel is very near to the theatre district and convent garden, so a good base for a night out in London
The hotel was chosen as it was near the Strand Theatre, where we had tickets to see "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels". All the staff were very welcoming and made sure our stay was enjoyable. As this was our Coral Wedding anniversary I wanted to make sure it was special and as stated the hotel and staff made sure of that.

Nice but way over priced

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: Very clean and very, very nice staff.
Cons: Lower the cost
Location: Centrally located, safe area to walk around
Staff were very nice and helpful. Centrally located. Breakfast was a joke though. Pool was great. Hotel really expensive for facilities - this may be a reflection of the cost of London - but compared to other international hotels.

Pros: Good location and helpful staff. Nice ambience.

Very convenient hotel to the theater district and shopping. Staff is excellent.

How it should be done...

Posted Sep 14, 2014
Pros: Everything...
Cons: Don't change a thing...
Location: Well placed for theartres, Covent Garden and West End...
Arrived at hotel at around 10am after an early flight, and was welcomed like a VIP.. the best welcome ever received in a London hotel. Check in, room availabe early, complimentary coffee while the room was checked, shown the room, which was clean, comfortable and with everything you'd expect....first class, professional... Concierge was efficient and helpful with dinner and cocktail bar reservations. Room was typically sized, but well laid out, comfortable, excellent bed and linen, modern and stylish. Ensuite was clean, stylish and functional. Hotel is well placed for West End, and the staff are excellent. The lobby bar is stylish and relaxed throughout the day and evening, for afternoon tea or cocktails.

Five star hotel in a great West-end location

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Location and service.
Cons: The swimming pool was a great idea but because of the low ceiling (being a basement) it was noisy and echoy. Hard to imagine how this could be fixed.
Location: Covent Garden and Leicester Sq, West end musicals and shows, Chinatown, and Soho a bit further.
We very much enjoyed our short stay in this five star hotel. The rooms were nice, the staff were friendly and courteous. There were some nice touches such as providing fresh fruit each day. The location is excellent for Covent Garden - 5 mins walk and also convenient to the tube with Temple being the nearest station.
