Resort is nice but spa is showing its age

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Location: I-pic movie theater is great and just across the street. It's a beautiful area upstairs including the restaurant, bar and bathrooms!
The end of June is very hot in Scottsdale so you want a nice pool area to cool off in. The spa pool is really looking old and is not a very pretty area to hang out in. The chairs and cushions are old and have bird poo on them, which you would think a nice resort would want to keep clean. It's just a very plain pool with worn out bricks for decking and not very pretty foliage planted around it. They definitely need to do major cosmetic work on this for me to want to spend any time here. The main pool and lazy river are nicer so we spent our pool time there but the chairs could also use some upgrading or replacing. This area does have a lot of children in it so we really wish the adult spa pool would have been better. The spa itself also needs updating. We had pedicures and the nail salon area was not pretty at all and very un-spa like. One other point I want to make is that the double beds are small and not for two people. I really wish they offered two queen beds in a room. The breakfast restaurant downstairs is really good. The malted waffles w/fresh whipped cream and berries is a must as well as the poached eggs with hash browns and bacon.

Very relaxing, fun stay- cation

We choose to stay here every time because the staff go above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. The hotel itself is beautiful, and very spa like.

Pros: The service everywhere.
Cons: Nothing - it was great!
Location: Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter has all the shopping you really need. The shuttle services is so so convenient.
Right from our arrival we were impressed. The location of our room was right outside the pool, Kierland Commons shopping 3 min. walk, and the atmosphere was great! Peter our pool waiter was awesome, he was on his game with exceptional service. The FlowRider makes you feel like kid playing in the ocean. I would recommend this hotel to a professional, family or a couple away on a romantic get away

Seriously disappointed

Posted Jun 11, 2014
There was an event going on outside my room there was a light show and sound show that was going on until 9:40 PM and they couldn't understand why I wanted to move rooms. It was very loud and not at all relaxing. The woman at the front desk took down the room service order incorrectly and didn't listen when I called to correct the problem. Overall it was just a one night stay and I'm fortunate for that because I would not of been happy paying a high rate for more than one night. Overall seriously disappointing. I think the hotel is completely booked so they don't feel like they have to give good service. There's a bit of an arrogance to the hotel and staff.

Nice location

Posted Jun 2, 2014
The location is great, walking distance to many shops, restaurants, splash pad, etc... Room is advertised as sleeping 5 but a rollaway bed is not permitted in a room with two beds and there is no couch. Also, the pool seemed dirty in the morning at 9:00 which made us think it did not have a decent cleaning from the previous day, band aides, golf tees, wrappers floating. Pool menu is nice and the lobby and grounds are very pretty.

Fantastic Resort!!

Posted May 26, 2014
I wanted to try Westin this time while in Scottsdale. This will be my destination from here on out. They have so much to offer here. With all the restaurants, nightlife, beautiful golf course, pools...the list goes on and on. The rooms are superb and the location perfect. The staff was always so helpful and friendly. I have stayed at the seasons and this has more of the 'get away' resort feel for me.

Hotel or Mall?

Posted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: The room was spacious and comfortable, the pool area was great, the concierge helpful, service staff very pleasing.
Location: The musical insturment museum was wonderful as was the botanical garden. there is a mall within walking distance of the hotel.
The resort was lovely, well maintained with an attentive staff. However, the room itself felt a bit like staying in a mall, with price tags for the bed, the linens, the wine, the corkscrew, the golf ballls and the robe. Upon chek in, my safe did not work and the security man came up promptly to fix it and seemed to want a tip. i did not tip someone for doing the job which should have been done prior to my arrival. The bed was well used and was a bit like sleeping in a canoe, although a comfortable one. I also think that such a high end hotel should have a night time turn down service with fresh towels. Lastly, the hotel's commitment to being green was laughable. you could forgo daily maid service for a $5 credit on you food or beverage service? Really? If there is a green initiative, make it seem like one and make it a meaningful credit.

Perfect location for enjoying car auction week

Posted Jan 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel is a perfect place to stay when in Scottsdale for car auction week. It is close to shopping and great restaurants. The property is pristine, the pools are lovely and the rooms and amenities luxurious. Our only dissatisfaction was the noise at 4:00 a.m. from the neighboring room of rowdy guests. That was a bit beyond the control of the hotel. Be sure to take in the sunset and bagpipes while sipping drinks by the fire pit.

Poorly informed personnel

Posted Jan 2, 2014
Cons: The entire hotel seems perfumed causing an allergic reaction.
Location: Location is good which is why we chose this place.
We attended the Phoenix Symphony and checked with the concierge before if the hotel restaurants would be open after 10:30 pm. We were assured that all restaurants will be open until midnight. When we came back to get some food we found that the restaurants were closed with the exception of a bar. In the bar the waitress told us that there was a restaurant open on the main floor so we went to look for it. We found out, however, that it was closed. We checked at the main desk if there was another place to get food and were told that we could get some snack food at the bar on the main level. We went there to be informed that they did not serve food anymore. This is New Years Eve ! No more food after 10pm? Room service was available, however, with a 22% surcharge plus additional $4 for delivery added to already excessive prices was not worth the wait. We found that the restaurants we had checked before are unattractive and, for a hotel of this kind, rather basic. In general, our experience was disappointing and we will not visit this hotel again.
