The service, the staff, the rooms, the beach- everything was absolutely incredible. We booked our trip on Expedia with every intention of upgrading to the Preferred Club upon arrival for $250 as that is what we had read in reviews. When we arrived we were told it would be $420 ($60 a night) to upgrade. After some discussing we decided to upgrade to Preferred Club, but downgrade to a Garden View room to save some money (it was only $350). This was the best $350 we could have spent! We decided to allocate our spa money toward the room upgrade and couldn't have been happier. Pools: If you are travelling without kids the Preferred Club upgrade is absolutely worth it. We went for lunches at Castaways (great restaurant) near the main, non-preferred, pool and it was packed, with kids and adults, while the preferred pool was always quiet and never crowded. Cali (Calixto) was our bartender at the Reef (swim-up bar at the preferred pool) and he was great! Overall: My wife and I are simple people and prefer to know what we're getting. Some people like to try different resorts every year, but we will be going back to Now Jade because we know, and love, what we're getting.

"Service was excellent but few must knows..."
Service was Outstanding!!!!! The staff works extremely hard to keep visitors happy and pleased. They were always happy and smiling! There were no lines to eat and the one time out of 7 days we had to wait for a table, we waiting 5 mins. We traveled 7/2015 and it was humid along with being hot. The pool felt amazing! Keep in mind there are no ceiling fans in the rooms and our AC only cooled down to 79 the lowest. Staff checked the AC unit but said it was working correctly. I requested a fan, which they sent immediately to the room which made a world of a difference. You will sleep warmer but due to the fan, we were able to sleep well. They provide plenty of bottled water and a loaded mini-frig. Room service is 24 hours.Remember to bring some stomach medication! The beach and seagrass/seaweed were a little disappointing. The hurricane of 2012 (around this time) wiped out majority of the beach. Our stay was during the never-ending seaweed, which people told us is a act of nature. You can not predict when this will occur. It made the water murky and not crystal clear. That was disappointing for us since we love snorkeling. You can literally walk 15-20 mins north to the Lagoon and snorkel. The river meets the ocean and you can see fish. South, there is not much of anything. Otherwise you have to travel or do excursions.

""Limited beach" but great pool areas"
Good: The resort area was very clean, and there were plenty of restaurant options. The pool area had plenty of activities going throughout the day - water exercise, yoga, bingo, dance lessons, ping-pong, etc. The paths around the resort were really beautiful. There were paddle boats, canoes, and surfboard-like activities included in the cost; be sure to get there early to enjoy them! We got to see some fish on our own with snorkel gear without going too far into the water. The kids got a kick out of seeing so many iguanas and coati hanging out. Not so good: I was disappointed that the beach area was quite small compared to the hotel we stayed at in Cancun. We were looking to spend more time in the ocean floating around, throwing the Frisbee on the beach, etc. There really wasn't much clean sandy area; I would recommend taking water shoes due to rocky areas. There was so much seaweed that it smelled bad. Of course, this might have been the same issue in Cancun if it was due to a storm going through earlier. Our room was really cold at night and the "2nd bed" (a couch with cushions out) was super hard. All in all, I would recommend this resort if you're ok with taking a "trolley" to different parts of the resort. The fitness room, miniature golf, other lobbies, different restaurants, etc., were a bit far to walk especially when it was super hot. Getting a shaded area ( & lounging chairs) around the pools was easy since there were so many in the resort.

Resorts include adults-only suites with views of the sea where you can be sure to get some peace and quiet. If you are traveling with your family, you can get all the childcare you need so that you can take some time off. Many all-inclusive Riviera Maya resorts offer babysitters and have a wealth of fun stuff for children to do right in the resort, including free bicycles, surf and boogie boards, tennis, and volleyball. You can find cheap hotels in Riviera Maya as well as hostels that cater to young, and not so young, backpackers.

    The Best Time to Visit

If you have some flexibility in timing your vacation through Expedia.com to one of the all-inclusive Riviera Maya resorts, you may want to visit in the dry season. The best weather is between late November and April. However, as with any vacation destination, the rates at Riviera Maya, Mexico, resorts are typically higher during the peak season. July through August and December through January are the most popular seasons. The rest of the year is considered the off-season and boasts smaller crowds, except for Easter vacation when locals and visitors rush to the beach.

    Historical and Cultural Attractions

The Riviera Maya is also home to some of the most fascinating natural and historical landmarks in Mexico. Two of the top Mayan ruins are the port at Tulum and Chichen Itza. The centerpiece at Chichen Itza is the Kukulkan pyramid as well as walking trails through a complex of Mayan ruins and temples. The famous Cenote Sagrado is also nearby. In Tulum, the ruins are on top of an outcropping that overlooks the sea, providing spectacular views, especially in the early morning.

    Resort Amenities

At the best resorts in Riviera Maya, you can expect excellent amenities, including free Wi-Fi, refrigerators, and bottled water. All hotels offer at least one swimming pool, beach access with umbrellas, and lounge chairs. A Riviera Maya spa will offer full spa treatments, including in-room massages and relaxing rubdowns on the beach after a long day of surfing. Most resorts also offer easy access to golf courses, water sports such as windsurfing, water skiing lessons, skydiving, and eco-tours. Resorts typically house at least one, and sometimes several, excellent on-site restaurants to please even the most discerning palate. Some even have nightclubs and discos. Your suite is like a home away from home with slippers, bathrobes, and DVD players.

    The Mysteries of the Yucatan

The Riviera Maya is in one of the most fascinating natural environments in the world, home to breathtaking cenotes and caves. These natural wonders are created by an underground river that runs the length of the peninsula. The Rio Secreto has seemingly endless rooms and passageways full of stalactites and stalagmites that have transformed it into a magical underground world. The area also offers some of the best scuba diving in the Caribbean with the Cenote Dos Ojos in Playa Del Carmen where certified divers can explore miles of underground rivers and discover hidden caverns. Other sites include statues hidden only to people standing on the shore. Divers can see the monumental underwater museum created by Jamie Gonzales Cano. It contains more than 500 permanent, life-size sculptures of people, which are fast becoming home to the local marine life. If diving’s not your thing, you’re in luck. There is one exhibition that is only for snorkelers.

If a Caribbean vacation is on your wish list, look for resort deals and cheap flights to Riviera Maya. Along with the beautiful, silky beaches and crystal-clear water, you'll experience some of the most fascinating historical and natural wonders in the Caribbean. Expedia.com will get you more discounts when you book in advance, so check out our deals today and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime.
