Wonderful location. All, but the 1st employee, were extremely friendly and helpful. The 1st employee was too busy texting on her iphone to bother checking check me in or pay attention to my questions.

Last minute deal!

Arrived La Jolla with no reservation whatsoever wifi connection to Expedia and within THREE minutes deal done. Even alerted that should wait 2 hours till BW system check my arrival decided to drive straight to the hotel and they were waiting for us.Altogether 20 minutes AFTER I have started with my search. Hotel very well located parking extra 12$/day small breakfast included and most important very clean and large bedroom. Safe at front desk. Overnight clerk must be replaced since doesnt even know to answer a simple good morning. Very bad mood early in the morning when I checked out. Daytime front desk people very nice.

Driving with a GPS is perfect!!! Don`t miss glide port nearby, Torrey Pines golf is a must, twilight fees much cheaper after 1 PM,Carlsbad outlet very convenient and Ralph`s food market is the very best around. French 101 at Prospect St. perfect for a brunch.

the hotel said the lobby construction would be done before our check in date but it was not. However, it was so close to being finished that it was not a inconvenience and the staff was quick and attenative. We were upgraded to an ocean view room(520 top floor great view) and it was extremely clean and the beds were super comfy. The location is in la jolla village, a 5 minute drive to the shore, and a short walk to the coves. Although I didn’t think I would like having to drive to the beach it was actually really nice to get away from the beach and have to village to walk around the village at night.

Amazing location!

The room itself was just average. However, the location of this motel is just great. You could hear the ocean (but see just a little of it) from our room and it’s right smack in the middle of the LaJolla village - walking distance to EVERYTHING. Parking’s kind of a bear. We couldn’t park in the lot one night and had to park on the street but that was fine, we could still see the car from our room. This place is great if you don’t want to pay the exorbanant LaJolla prices but still want the location. As usual, the Best Western continental breakfast is great!!

The barbecue joint down the street was very, very good and they were very kind to let us in even though they were closing in 5 minutes they still made us a great hot dinner which is what we needed after driving for about 13 hours.

Great Vacation in La Jolla

Even with some remodeling going on, there was no noise and no inconvenience getting around. The room was well kept and the staff was friendly and very helpful.

Great location! It was centrally located in La Jolla within walking distance to the shops, restaurants and the beach. We would stay at the Inn again!

Ok hotel in great location

Hotel was fine except that it was undergoing some major construction (of which we were not notified). Makeshift check in desk was set up, area in front of the elevators was sheeted off, making it very tight getting in and out of the elevator. Construction carried over to the front driveway making it difficult getting in. Parking was also horrible! Other than that, the room was fine, the breakfast was plentiful and the location was very nice.

Great Bargain in Expensive La Jolla

The Best Western Inn by the Sea is walking distance from the beach and the main "village" areas of La Jolla, and a 5-10 minute drive from the business areas and UC San Diego, VA Medical Center, Scripps Institute of Oceanography (Birch Aquarium). Lots of cute shops and restaurants near the hotel, a beach with hundreds of seals (sea lions??), and 15 minutes from downtown San Diego. The rooms are clean, some have a view of the ocean, parking is decent (but probably tough in summer). I’d stay at the Inn again, not because of beautiful rooms and 5 star service, but because of it’s great location and good price.

The Torrey Pines Glider Port is near UCSD. It’s fun to watch all the hang gliders, parachute jumpers, etc. The beaches in the La Jolla area are beautiful.

Can’t wait to go back

I enjoyed my stay here. The hotel was easy to find and there was plenty of parking in the back. It cost $12 a day, but it was safe. The room was larger than I expected and very clean. The check in staff was very pleasant and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was well stocked and had a variety of items to choose from. I will definitely go back!

Very Nice Hotel

My husband were stayng in San Diego for a weekend away and to visit friends. The Best Western in La Jolla was the perfect place to stay. It was located right in the heart of La Jolla within walking distance (1 block) from restaurants and shops, and the beach (2-3 blocks). The hotel staff was courteous and helpful. The continental breakfast was delicious and the hotel was quiet. We were able to have an excellent night’s sleep without being interrupted. I would stay at the Best Western again without hesitating.

For an continental breakfast that is included in the price of the room, there was a better choice than we usually see in that class of hotels

Being a short walking distance from the towncenter of La Jolla, it offers quite a good choice of restaurants, shops and art galleries.

What a great vacation location!

A short walk from the ocean, a nice (albeit simple) free continental breakfast, and one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen, full of seals and pelicans and cool caves to explore. I loved the hotel and the friendly service; while there are, I am sure, fancier places to stay, the Best Western Inn By the Sea is a nice hotel in a great location.

Old, dirty hotel

The only good thing about this hotel is that it is in the La Jolla Village area. I would stay at any other hotel in this area before I would stay here again. Hotel service was bad also.

I had requested 2 beds and the only room available had 1 king bed but they brought us a rollaway so it worked.

Convenient

Conveniently located in LaJolla. Worked our perfectly for my reunion across the street at the Hard Rock Cafe!

Not Impressed!!

The hotel desk was managed by incompetent young people who did not appear to be concerned with the comfort of the guest. For example, when I asked to a room not near the elevator because of the level of noise I was moved to a room next to the much used stairwell.

Great La Jolla Location

This hotel was conveniently located. The room was clean and larger than expected. They did include a very basic continental breakfast.

A nice option in La Jolla

We live in Santa Monica but have season tickets at the La Jolla Playhouse so the Best Western Inn By The Sea is a nice option centrally located in La Jolla Village. Our room was on the inland side - on the top floor - yet still had a view of the sea. The hotel is nice in a very expected way. Everything was clean and well-maintained with the bonus of convex shower rods that make the shower seem bigger. There is a pool and an exterior glass elevator for that added touch.

At 11:00 pm we went to the Seal Cove a couple of blocks from the hotel and saw dozens and dozens of seals arriving from the sea to spend the night onshore. (Stinky, yes, but quite a sight.) The nearby Daily’s Restaurant serves health food that actually tastes great. All in all a hotel that is well worth the price.

A great choice for staying in San Diego area

We prefer staying in La Jolla while in San Diego, and this inn proved to be comfortable, quiet, clean, in a great location for shopping, restaurants and walks by the sea. The daily parking fee of $12 was worth every dollar in the normally car-crowded environs of La Jolla.

One maid knocked on every door at 9Am trying to make sure if she could enter. Is it the way it should be, or is it the way to bother all the coustmers ? Couldn’t they check the front desk see if which room was empty?

Hotel is not clea; parking is difficult if you are late. Breasfast is bad too
