“Room assigned when we arrived had not been cleaned nor the bed made up. After calling the front desk the clerk examined another room and we stayed there for our three days”

“Pros: The property itself is visually very nice and has a lot of potential. Cons: The lack of modernization is starting to show. My biggest concern was the lighting; many areas of the property are quite dark at night, which felt like a significant safety issue. Additionally, be prepared for a lot of stairs. If you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns, navigating the layout is difficult. Bottom Line: It’s a lovely setting, but it really needs an upgrade in terms of lighting and accessibility……

“The Wayside more than met our expectations for early American historic properties. It has a broad selection of antique-filled bedrooms that are clean and comfortable. The public spaces vary from an 18th century log tavern encased in the younger early 19th century spaces with elegant Victorian parlors, all immaculately dusted. “We really enjoyed a relaxing stay here. It is located in lovely VA farm/vineyard country with beautiful views from various rooms in the Manor. The accommodations and common areas where beautifully appointed. We didn't have dinner there but the breakfast was substantial and very good (fresh eggs from their chickens apparently!). The staff was warm and gracious always anticipating our needs. They even had a Lucid EV charger that they allowed us to use prior to leaving to allieve my range……
