“This townhouse hotel is rated as a 4 star hotel but frankly it should be rated as a 2 star hotel. There is no one to help with luggage. There is no real reception you have to go up a floor to a small office to check in. There is no staff to assist you in the morning until 11 am and no one after 6:00.pm. They give you one key and you have to open the main door of the hotel yourself outside the hours of operation. As for the accommodations where do I even begin. We were 2 couples checking in. ……

“We arrived very late into Kinsale after official check in hours (and apparently there is no personal guest check in anyway), and were given instructions on how to check in and where to park and the staff were very responsive via the Expedia app. However, the hotel is not well marked at all - there’s a tiny sign outside the property which looks more like an office building (white smooth exterior, modern looking windows) and it’s on a busy road with no place to pull up or double park to unload……

“This is a historic building in the centre of Kinsale. We were very pleased with the extremely large room on the ground floor. Breakfast was also very good. Peter, the host and owner, was very accommodating and helpful. He shared some interesting family history with us including about the establishment. Restaurants, pubs and stores are literally just down the street. Parking can be scarce when the tour buses are in town but you will find something (the lot across the street is free from 6pm……

“The room itself was nice. Getting to the room...not fun at all! Around 8 flights of stairs with luggage and being 72 years old is no fun at all. We had room 5 which is the top room (attic). Flooring needs some work as it is warping and windows need repairs. No company person onsite makes makes things more complicated when needing something. We've spent 12 days in five hotels in Ireland and this is my lowest critique.”
