Very friendly and helpful staff, better English than I expected. More or less traditional ryokan, with tatami floors. The room is spacious during the day when the futons are rolled up (the staff does that for you), and the futons are very comfortable to sleep on. Breakfast included in the price of the room was excellent. Dinner was extra, but not expensive--about $25 for a first-class, elegant Japanese dinner. This was our first stay in a traditional Japanese ryoken and we had a great stay. The welcome was fantastic with a tour round the hotel and tea served in our room. We also enjoyed the spa and the Japanese breakfast.

Such a cool place! We loved it here. It’s a bit of a ride to/from the city center, but worth it, especially if you’re looking for some quality “down time”. Do beware of bugs outside! Tons of orb weavers around (which are not aggressive), and other cool ones like grasshoppers, praying mantis, etc. The staff was extremely helpful in arranging taxis for us, because the GO app will not function as expected that far from town.
