"Everything good with hotel. Just annoying flying insects. A lot of people I saw around were wearing bug net. I guess they knew this area is notorious for midges. The lake area was beautiful. The breakfast buffet included hot meal such as scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. They also have espresso machine. The room was above average bed/pillows were really nice. The shower barrier was short so water splashed everywhere in the bathroom floor when I took a shower. The staff were courteous but all business like."

"We travelled in mid-September. After viewing the photos when booking, I mistakenly thought the guesthouse was in close proximity to the falls. It is actually 25 minutes from Dettifoss. It is north of the falls so it is positioned well for Asbyrgi Canyon. Don’t judge the accommodations from your initial take of the outside. The amenities are great - kitchen is well stocked, great eating area and the bathrooms are newly remodeled. We would definitely go back again."

"Great stay! Very comfortable room. Clean. Quiet. Hot shower with good water pressure. Adequate parking. Fabulous bar and restaurant. Food was a bit expensive but was delicious. Room was warm but eventually cooled during the night."

"The guesthouse was exactly as described in Expedia. The kitchen, common room and bathrooms were all very clean. The owner responded to questions quickly and also was a very interesting man to talk to about the area. The common area has an amazing collection of cd's and records! We felt at home staying here!"

"This was a great find and we really enjoyed our stay of one evening. I was travelling with my partner, it was easy to find. Friendly, welcoming staff that greeted us for our check in. If you’re going to be late for your check in, let them know in advance and I’m sure they can accommodate you with easy instructions. Our room was comfortable, private bathroom is always a plus. They offer breakfast but it’s not included. This stay is great for solo travellers, partners and even families from what I saw. There aren’t really any dining options around that I noticed, the property is kind of tucked away but there is a communal kitchen, cozy communal lounge rooms, good views, I think I noticed a ping pong table and in the back there is a fun little playground for children and there’s even a trampoline! It was a great stay and I recommend to anyone that is considering. Thank you Hotel Skulagardur for the wonderful stay!"

"Overall is very good. And the house is old, so cooking may cause a lot of smells. Also have to walk up to stairs no elevator. Not friendly for people who have legs problems. Otherwise, very thing is good. House is very cozy."
