High class, great service, great food, amazing staff! From the time we set foot on property, we were treated like royalty! The room was large and well appointed. The canopy bed was something! Do note that the location is up on the hill/mountain so you will most likely need transportation (e.g., taxi) to get there. You can easily find a taxi at Atami Station. I guess you can walk but it's pretty steep. Walking down is not a problem unless you have luggage in tow. You can walk but it’s a one lane and can be scary, so I would just call a ride. Even checking out was a pleasure, your team at Resort work very hard and it was an amazing experience. Very professional and service minded staff at a high end hotell nestled in the hillside. If it's your first time in Atami, most hotells are carved into the hillside. This means the view is great, but walking there, especially with luggage, is VERY challenging!! Take a taxi from the railway station. Our room (villa, open air bath) was really nice. Breakfast was served in room, as requested, and was delicious. They even managed to cater to my vegan partner. They were working so hard to make our stay memorable and their intention to make a luxurious stay was known. Those going to expect authentic Italian food may be disappointed but the food was very good. There is a restaurant in Vancouver that does Japanese and Italian fusion that has a Michelin star but the food here is better and fresher. Can't beat Japanese fish caught on the same day paired with Italian wine. The in room onsen with real onsen water was a treat. After 10 days of city hopping, I felt relaxed and calm. I would stay there again . There are reviews that the hill is too hard to climb but I suggest that guests take a taxi. The entire city is built in steep hills so you cannot say this one hotel is bad without mentioning the region. Think Amalfi or Cinque Terre and you get the Italian feel with Japanese flair. I've been to both and have Italian family and have lived in Japan so I'm confident in my review that this meets my experiences and expectations.
