Relax by a fountain in the serene gardens, study the historic artifacts in the museum and learn about the families that once lived in this 15th-century mansion.

Visit Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens to learn about the region’s social history through the books, garments and agricultural tools of a bygone era. The museum is housed in a medieval hall surrounded by grounds featuring a fish pond, fountains and glorious floral displays.

Arrive at the impressive mansion that was built for a local wool merchant in the 15th century. In the back is a gorgeous set of grounds, with a rectangular pond one of the highlights. Have a picnic on the well-kept lawn and listen to the sound of the fountain jets’ spray pattering on the water. Admire the bright colors of the flowerbeds and walk beneath the elegant pergola. Look for the spire of the adjacent Parish Church of Saint Mary and Saint Nicolas rising above the hedges.

Enter the mansion and read through the exhibits tracing the history of the families that lived here. The museum showcases a range of curiosities of yesteryear.

Attend one of the regular events organized in this large building, from music recitals and dramatic performances to temporary art displays and crafts workshops. Take a break in the charming café, where you can get snacks and drinks.

Enter the site for free. The grounds are open year round from dawn until dusk. The museum itself runs from Wednesday through Sunday from late morning until late afternoon.

The Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens is on the eastern side of the River Welland. It stands in the southern part of the Spalding town center.
