We had the most incredible stay at this boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Bayfield. From the moment we arrived, we were completely charmed by the perfect blend of modern elegance and cozy local character.

We had a wonderful stay at St. James Social. Clean room, courteous staff and a wonderful town.
This was a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are bright, comfortable beds and a beautiful bathroom. The room had a record player with a couple of old records in it. We found that pretty fun. It has a nice bar and restaurant downstairs that we enjoyed a great meal, a little pricey.
. The staff were fun, kind and helpful. The breakfast was a typical European style breakfast which I and my friend enjoyed coffee was great. The only thing I would like to see is more hanging space in the bathroom.and a second chair in the room.
Located in central Bayfield,WI. Easy access to lakefront outings.
Though located above "social club" and restaurant, noise not a problem.
Decor/styling are modern and good quality.
Property is without a frontdesk, so check in is virtual.
Site used for this was somewhat difficult to navigate. Check in not until 4p. Street parking only, unless arrangements for reserved parking made ahead of time.
Check in was super easy, key fob in the room was a great means for entry after check in, the room was very quiet, never heard much of anything other than some road noise which was fine. Location was fantastic, do make reservations at the in house restaurant.
Gorgeous spaces! Check in was different with no in-person contact, but communication was good and room was easy to access. Elevator was very slow, so we took stairs to the second floor room (all rooms are on the second floor). Beautiful room and bathroom with high-end fixtures. Personal welcome note on the table was a nice touch. Record player and records available was unreal but fun! Breakfast was different from most hotels, but very enjoyable. Bed was SUPER comfortable!
The room was spotless, decorated beautifully, quiet, had bathrobes to use in sauna, was prepped for our arrival both temperature and lit, had access to a coffee and beverage bar down the hall, and bottles of water in the room. Has elevator AND stairs to rooms on second floor. The Social Club downstairs was accessible inside the building, again decorated well, comfortable seating and inviting. The staff were excellent, sociable, informative about events in the area and helpful. Would love to return! A home away from home.
Beautiful new space to enjoy everything Bayfield has to offer. Wonderful decor, fantastic amenities, and rooftop space! Spent time enjoying the authentic sauna and clean coffee bar. Easy check-in and can’t wait to come back to the space once construction of the first floor is complete. Would recommend this spot to anyone traveling in the area!
Our room was newly and handsomely renovated with a very comfortable bed and nice amenities. Our particular room was quite small (had to open suitcase on top of the bed) but I’m told they have other larger rooms. Restaurant downstairs is superb for dinner. No front desk; electronic check-in, but owners were responsive online.
Everything is new and top quality. Didn’t get to use it but had a really nice sauna. Coffee and tea bar as well as a wine and beer bar/ restaurant on the main floor. Too cool yet to enjoy the roof top deck but it was really nice as well
This place is money! You feel like you are in a cool metropolitan stay in the heart of a city, but it’s in small town Bayfield. We stayed there to go to a concert and were so pleased with this place that we will make the trip back up there again just to stay at the S J Social. The rooms are so cool. There is a turntable in each room, excellent decor, a coffee in bar down the hall, a sauna and a private rooftop sitting area. I would live in this place! The restaurant and bar downstairs is amazing. Get up there and stay…it’s so worth the drive.

Renovation is nice and location is great, but service experience was underwhelming. Between dining at street-level restaurant and automated management, felt cold, impersonal. Not what I was looking for to celebrate my wife's birthday. We aren't unaccustomed to paying $400 a night for accommodations, but this is the most unimpressed we've been by a service level at that rate.
Light switches were strange. Could not turn on bathroom without turning on ceiling lights bright. All the on line connections seemed too much and confusing. Restaurant wascgreat
