Il fait édifier le château bâti en pierre de taille, dont on attribue la construction à l'architecte du Roi Jacques-Ange Gabriel(1698-1782). On doit , entre autres, à Jacques-Ange Gabriel, le Petit Trianon de Versailles et le pont Jacques Gabriel de Blois, ainsi que la place de la Bourse à Bordeaux et la place de la Concorde. En 1818, Talleyrand acquiert le château pour y installer sa chère nièce, la Duchesse de Dino. La Duchesse de Dino, Dorothée princesse de Courlande, était d'une grande beauté et d'une vive intelligence. Dorothée est née à Friedrichsfelde, près de Berlin, le 21 août 1793. Balzac, qu'elle n'aimait pas, l'a représentée, dans La Comédie humaine, sous les traits peu flatteurs de la marquise d'Espard, en particulier dans "l'Interdiction"(1836). Dans "l'Interdiction", la marquise d'Espard veut faire interdire son mari sous prétexte de folie. En 1917, le château est acquit par Henri Viguier, Président-directeur général du Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville.
