The Abbey Gate is the main entrance to the gardens of the Bury St Edmunds Abbey. It's also right across the street from a small square on the edge of the pedestrian street leading to the heart of town.
Bury St Edmunds Cathedral/Abbey. For over 1,000 years, the site of Suffolk ’s Cathedral has been one of worship and pilgrimage. The death of Edmund, King of the East Angles, at the hands of the Danes in 869 led to the building of an abbey to house his remains. We had a wonderful week long get away, the cottage was very cozy and relaxing. Eileen was very helpful with anything and everything and made us feel very welcomed.

Lovely accommodation, spacious, warm and very comfortable. Beds were also very comfortable. My only negative comment is about the road condition from the main road down to the cottages - lots of large potholes with parts of the road in very poor condition.
