If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Canada, then you'll likely need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country in order to rent a car. It's also important to note that if an IDP is required, it has no validity on its own. You'll have to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of documentation as well.
