Castletown Vacations from $1,397

Wonderful older building on the sea front with an elevator/lift. Simply oozes character. We were on the top floor in the slightly more expensive larger rooms overlooking the sea and the port area to watch the ships coming and going. Close to downtown for restaurants and shopping and easy walking distance from the ferry terminal. Excellent cooked breakfast included. Staff were most helpful. All at a reasonable cost. The only downside is very slight evidence of fighting to keep damp out of this older building subject to winter storms off the Irish Sea - did not detract in any way from our enjoyable stay.

Five star view. Would be great apartment if it were cleaned and maintained.

We had our honeymoon on the island in 1996, and just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary by returning. The staff at the Halvard was so nice, and so accommodating. The room was much larger than most in old Victorian hotels. It was also very quiet, I had a very nice updated bathroom and had an incredible view of Douglas Harbor. The breakfast was a nice combination of buffet and custom order, and we also ate dinner there the first night, and it was excellent. Would highly recommend staying at the Halvard.

What a phenomenal stay—more than I could’ve ever hoped for given the short notice to book and the impromptu nature of our stay. One side facing Castle Rushen and the other facing the ocean, I’m still blown away we got to stay here for a few days.
