My sister and I had the pool all to ourselves after the 9 pm hour, which as women of a "certain age" was fine for us because we could goof off like we were kids again in our backyard pool with no one to shush us. It took us a while to get into the deeper end but the "noodles" helped our buoyancy. Before long we were racing each other against the length of the pool and laughing ourselves silly. The water might have been a little bleachy, but so was our backyard pool. It was clean -- that's important. I did not accept my sister's challenge to cannon ball. Some decorum was maintained. The only down side was that we missed breakfast by fifteen minutes, having stayed up late playing man jonng on top of our bed (a table night have been preferred) and watching stupid television in the background. We fell asleep on the very comfortable beds not knowing who the murderer was on an episode of Bones. I think breakfast should run until 10 AM not 9:30 AM. That's this traveler's report of our stay at your Inn.

This was a quiet convenient place with a wonderful pool, gym, free coffee & hot chocolate, and decent hot breakfast. The carpets were old, but overall the rooms were exactly what you want in a hotel, and the staff was super friendly.

We try to stay at The English Inn every time we come to Charlottesville whether for medical treatment or just for a fun overnight. There is so much character! Nothing like the chain hotels. They try to stay up in modern updates and the staff is always soooo kind. Especially the night desk attendant. I’m so sorry that I have forgotten her name. We just returned from out latest stay and just booked another stay for next weekend.

Cozy quiet hotel. Stayed there with my family. Large indoor pool that the kids enjoyed. Nice breakfast in the morning. High Tea was a pleasant surprise. Having card games and board games in the lobby was added bonus the kids enjoyed those as well.

This was a wonderfully quaint inn. I loved the decor in all the spaces. Front desk was friendly, and check-in was easy. We needed to do some laundry as we are on vacation, and the machines were newer and efficient. Our bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was quite good. The inn was convenient to Monticello, our destination. I would definitely stay there again.

The sofa bed did not appear to be clean when we arrived. When we were setting it up, we noticed that there were food crumbs all over the sheets. Our bathroom had multiple lights out. The air conditioning in our room was not effective leaving us hot and uncomfortable for the majority of our stay. No matter what temperature we set the thermostat at, our room stayed in the mid to upper 70’s until the overnight and early morning hours when it finally cooled to the desired setting. It was very hot outside so I’m sure that was a contributing factor but it still should be able to cool the room more effectively than it was. I also wish that it would have been communicated to us in advance that our room would be in a separate building across the parking lot. We have small children and it wasn’t ideal going back and forth

The room at the English Inn was clean, comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed having a refrigerator and microwave in the room. Free breakfast was very satisfying. We appreciated that water and coffee were available in the lobby! The only complaint we had was the pet free. We felt that $65 was exorbitant and will not stay again with our pet. Our stay is always connected with my husband having surgeries at UVA hospital and on this trip we had to bring our pet. We have stayed at the English Inn in the past and would highly recommend it to other travelers.
