Less urban than other areas of Colorado Springs, the sense of "escape" here is palpable. The views of the mountains tend to be unobstructed. Access to outdoor recreation is superb, yet the modern conveniences abound too. Shopping and quality restaurants are relatively close. Gyms, grocery stores, outlets, food and drink are all within an approximate 5 minute drive. The area is also defined, somewhat, by its proximity to the Air Force Academy. Guests will frequently notice light training planes flying overhead—the nation's next Airmen learning their craft. Some of the most well-known area attractions are all within an approximate 20 minute drive—Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs, Garden of the Gods, Old Colorado City, Downtown, the COS Airport—all are easily accessible via main roadways and Interstate 25.
