Wedding anniversary
We booked for our wedding anniversary and also invited family to join us for a stay. I had emailed prior to book dinners and excurisons for our stay and informed it was our wedding anniversary but it was not acknowledged which was disappointing as we had stayed in a hotel the previous night who noted our anniversary and we appreciate attention to detail. The staff are very friendly especially Brian who kindly helped with our luggage and driving us around. Breakfast and dinner was delicous. We appreciated how dog friendly the hotel is and the lovely dog beds, bowls and snacks that were in our room. Our 2 little doggies were well looked after.

Wedding anniversary.
Fantastic stay, the staff are so friendly and everyone was so nice to our 2 little dogs which ee really appreciated. The breakfast was delicous and the dinner is worth going back for more, it was superb. We enjoyed our stay. It was our wedding anniversary which we informed the hotel months in advance and it was not acknowledged which was disappointing.

Fabulous
We stayed for 2 nights in a duplex suite room 121. Decor is modern, bed extremely comfortable (only item to be andjousted is the shower as no matter what direction your in water leaks out). we had our dog with us and I have to say she was treated like a VIP with a treat left for her, dog bed, bowls and towel and all the staff were super nice. The food In wildes restaurant is outstanding and the venison for main course was superb. The only criticism is if you have breakfast in the gallery with your 4 legged friend the service is a little disjointed. However, they did provide food for her also. All in all an excellent stay and we will definitely come back.

Couples break
Lovely welcome, shown to room which was dreadful. Bright red carpets and bright red plastic bed. Felt like we were in a pornstars bedroom!! Also a shower over the bath which we don’t like. Asked to be moved to another room and advised reception that we were Gold hotel.com members ,eventually after quite a very long conversation and a long wait we were upgraded to a beautiful suite. We ordered room service one afternoon and paid €18 for a soggy awful toasted sandwich, at checkout we were astonished to see they had charged us an additional €7.50 for bring the sandwich to our room. We were also charged €20 staff tip, we asked for the tip to be removed, we had already tipped several staff. The staff at breakfast were delightful, the doormen were very friendly. The breakfasts were very good. We ate at Cullen’s at the Castle one night, food and service were excellent but we felt it was overpriced.

Dear John, thank you for taking the time to complete your review. I am disappointed to hear that your first suite was not to your liking and pleased to hear that you found a suite that you did like. I do note your other comments and will discuss with our Management Team. In relation to tips, please note that in the past year we have reviewed the tip policies in the hotel through consultation with management and with our teams and have introduced the discretionary room charge. The discretionary room charge is for the rooms department team members who use to get cash tips left in the rooms which they have generally seen disappear to a minimum. This now gives the teams a digital method to receive tips and for them to distribute in a fair and transparent fashion. The system is working for both the team and guests, as we are receiving a very positive response from our guests overall and we do point out it is discretionary. We are happy to remove or change as the guest requests. The discretionary room charge is on our confirmation letters informing of the policy introduction. It is very similar to a service charge that many hotels have in place, however it is at the complete discretion of the guest. We do hope John that you will return to us in the near future, I would be delighted to look after your reservation personally to help ensure you have a wonderful stay in The Lodge at Ashford Castle. Opaque marketing, limited access to the castle
Maybe I missed it but I feel the marketing was very opaque regarding access to the castle. STAYING AT THE LODGE DOES NOT GIVE YOU ACCESS TO THE CASTLE. you only then can access the castle by booking a reservation for an 80 euro per person tour or a meal at one of their restaurants, but they don’t tell you on their website which restaurants are in the castle. If you have a booking for a restaurant, They will let you walk around and explore the castle and go to the bars. You can’t just go in to get a drink at the bar. Restaurants: Cullens is in a thatched house next to but not in the castle. Wildes is at the lodge, not in the castle. Stanley’s is in the basement of the castle but does not take reservations. George V is a traditional fancy restaurant in a ballroom type setting. The drawing room is the main room attached to the Prince of wales bar and has a nice view of the back grounds and lake. Lunch only. The connaght room is for afternoon tea, also a beautiful setting. The dungeon is in the basement of the castle. This is where we ate and the food and service was very good. Very nice ambiance. Bars: The billiards room. Has a large snooker table and they will teach you how to play! Has a real fire and smells like it, but in a cozy castle kind of way. Menu is the same as the bar downstairs. Small outdoor patio. Has cigars as well. Prince of wales bar. Nice classy bar on the main floor. Same menu as upstairs. The lodge: Beautiful rooms, heated floors, small fridges.

Another Good stay at Ashford Castle Lodge We stayed two nights in a quay Suite Suite was very clean & comfortable It is worth the little bit extra to stay in a suite if you can Male breakfast Host & Lady Host were absolutely excellent ( so sorry I do not have names ) The lady did her best to assist when maintenance were drilling in a room directly above us during breakfast service Breakfast was a good quality, the house home made baked beans are a must ! you will never eat heinz again On check out, the friendly & efficient reception Manager was very helpful in sorting a small issue that was previously highlighted to the reception team during the stay without resolution We did not eat in Wildes restaurant this time but was very enjoyable previous stay We enjoyed drinks/ lunch on the terrace & after dinner drinks in the lovely bar The new spa/pool was not open yet ( another couple of weeks ) but the friendly manager showed us around, he is obviously very proud of his new project & rightly so as it looks amazing! The grounds are extensive & very well looked after, there are lovely walking trails A very good stay !

Amazing service, delicious food, and pup friendly!
Staying at the Lodge was a beautiful experience and I hope to return soon. We brought two dogs and the staff was incredibly sweet and accommodating with them. Plus the food and setting was amazing. We took a tour of the lake by boat and a trail ride with Ashford Outdoors and both were lovely. I also joined the wolfhound walk in the morning and had a ton of fun. The best part of the stay was the amazing staff. They were kind and looked out for us our whole stay.

Wonderful Option on the Ashford Castle Estate
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge at Ashford Castle. The service was absolutely top notch. Every employee was a true professional. The hotel itself is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The property is beautiful. We enjoyed walks around the property and into the nearby town of Cong. We didn't take advantage of many of the activities available. Some were age-restricted (we have a six-year-old) and others were booked up. Ashford reaches out to guests urging them to book activities and meal reservations early to avoid disappointment. Definitely take them up on that recommendation. Include a reservation for something in Ashford Castle itself. Guests of the Lodge aren't permitted to enter the Castle without a dining or other reservation. Our room was comfortable and spacious. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were well equipped, even including US-style electrical outlets in some places. This hotel is a bit pricy, but we felt it was worth it for our family of three. One of our tour guides told us that the Lodge was named Ireland's top 4-star hotel a few years ago and that Ashford Castle was named the world's best hotel at some point. That's not surprising based upon our experience.

Although we weren’t able to book a meal at the castle, so that we could go inside & tour it, we still loved staying at The Lodge. The room, service & meals were delightful. And, we truly enjoyed the 2 hour afternoon boat ride that included a walk to see church ruins on an island. We also really enjoyed walking around all the castle grounds. We sure hope to come back & bring our family with us!

The Lodge is on the grounds of Ashford Castle - majestic, calming, gorgeous - all we wanted to do was walk around all day! Several amenities at the castle are afforded to the Lodge, but not all - confirm and book beforehand if you're interested in falconry, horseback riding, etc. The boat across the lake is a lovely outing!

A Fantastic Stay!
We had a lovely stay at The Lodge at Ashford Castle. The reception staff were extremely helpful, Ian in particular! We loved sitting in The Quay Bar in front of the fire. We did activities at the activity centre, these were both great fun and really well organised. It was a lovely touch to be dropped to the centre by the staff at the Lodge. Everything was really fantastic.
