The historic brothel in downtown Custer, South Dakota, stands as a testament to a bygone era, offering a unique glimpse into the region's colorful past. This intriguing establishment, with its five bedrooms, is an emblem of the town's history and is conveniently situated walking distance to various amenities such as restaurants, bars, shopping and wine tasting and a short car ride to Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Mount Rushmore and more.
Built during the late 19th century, the brothel, that was relocated from Keystone to Custer, has retained much of its original charm and character. Its architecture, a fusion of Victorian and Wild West influences, captures the essence of the era, with intricate wooden detailing and ornate ironwork adorning the exterior. The brothel's façade stands in stark contrast to the more modest buildings surrounding it, highlighting its historical significance.
The interior of the brothel is equally fascinating. Each of the five bedrooms is a time capsule of the past, exuding a sense of luxury and indulgence. Richly decorated with Pendleton fabrics, the rooms reflect the opulent tastes of the clientele that once frequented this establishment. There's a large kitchen, spacious dining room, and a game room or overflow dining table.
Situated in the heart of downtown Custer, this historic brothel's location adds to its allure. The proximity to amenities such as restaurants, saloons, and shops make it a central hub for the town's visitors, providing an immersive experience of the Old West. Patrons could easily explore the town's vibrant cultural scene, then return to the brothel for an evening of entertainment and relaxation. Guests say they love they can walk everywhere in town!
There's plenty of parking, tables for dining al fresco in the summertime and plenty of parking in the back. The covered front porch is perfect for people watching, reading, your morning cup of coffee and your wind-down wine.

Many stores and restaurants stay open year-round! Custer has many fall/winter events. We are about 1 hour from skiing at Terry Peak. We are at a higher altitude....some people will feel the affects of the higher elevation so if you are not used to it, be sure to rest and hydrate!
WHAT RESTAURANTS ARE OPEN YEAR-ROUND? The Custer Wolf, Custer Beacon, Skogen, Buglin' Bull, Hjem AM, Sauce and Dough, Pizza Mill, Pizza Hut, Subway and Maria's Mexican are a few of the restaurants that are open year-round (although many take an extended break in the winter.)

ARE THERE STORES NEARBY TO BUY FOOD? We have Lynn’s Dakota Mart and two dollar stores. Be sure to check out our organic market just a block down the street, Wild Spruce Market.
The building does share a wall and a parking lot with Aspen+Pine Realty...where the owner of this home sells Black Hills property. So if you fall in love with the area, your Realtor is on hand!!

We had a wonderful stay! The home was as pictured, clean, and had ample parking. The location was perfect with lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We would love to stay here again on our next visit to the Custer area!
The house is just as described! It was so nice to have space to hang out with family and just enjoy our time together. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook many meals, which we really enjoyed!! We'd happily stay again!
This location was perfect for our family! It was centrally located, so much space, comfortable and beautiful home! We enjoyed our time here. The host was responsive. We would stay here again!
This house was a fantastic place to stay during our family vacation to the Black Hills! Walking distance to many of the restaurants and shops in Custer, and only a short drive to Mt Rushmore, Sylvan Lake, and several other attractions. The house was spacious and clean. The commercial range in the kitchen was fabulous! I was worried that the house would be too warm, but there are window AC units upstairs and even though the outside temps were close to 90 the house was very comfortable.
Loved the home, lots of room to spread out and a wonderfully stocked kitchen. Walk to downtown, close to Custer State park and bike trail. Had a wonderful time
We all had a wonderful time in Custer. The house is beautiful, charming and cozy, and the beds are super comfortable. Love the location and that it’s within walking distance of many restaurants, grocery store and a delicious pie shop! There’s nothing negative to say about this place. We can’t wait to come back again!
Great location to all sorts of activities. We hiked right there in Custer. Lots of shops for souvenirs. We went to crazy horse, Mount Rushmore, bears country hiked at Custer state park. The house was a great size for a group or big family. Kitchen was wonderful for us to make meals while we were there. Porch is amazing for relaxing on. Over a very nice place to stay.
We stayed in Custer SD for five nights and truly enjoyed the location of this property. It is within easy walking distance of downtown Custer activities - restaurants, shopping and bars. This property is very well appointed with lots of space and plenty of bedrooms :). This was a perfect location for exploring all of the Black Hills. We highly recommend this location!
Great stay. Roomy for family gathering. Front porch provided a great place to rock and sip on beverages. Quiet area, felt safe during our stay. Plenty of parking. Close to all major attractions. Road our bikes from house through needles, great location for cyclist if they want to access the Michelson trail
My family drove up from Colorado and down from Idaho to meet here and they absolutely loved the place! The owner was great and even stopped by to chat about the history of the house and make sure everything was OK. Definitely would stay again!
We rented the house for 6 days and had a great time. Everything was wonderful. The owner answered all my questions before the trip and eased my concerns about having no A/C. Th whine was cool throughout our stay even with temps reaching 87. Shopping was within walking distance and several places to eat were near by. I would stay there again.
It was fantastic! Andrea was very helpful and even went out of her way to fulfill a special request we had. The only issue we had was a lack of hand rails on the outside steps, we had a elderly couple that needed help up and down whenever we went out. We would definitely stay there again and I've already recommended it to my son for his family vacation next spring!
This home is made for a fantastic family vacation.
This was our first family get away with our dad since being very young. He got to enjoy 5 of his grandkids for the week! The house is well kept, has some fun history, great communication with the owner and you get to look at the Custer sign from the front porch. We had 10 people and fit comfortably. Thank you for the amazing memories.
5 Stars – Perfect Stay!We had a fantastic stay at this well-equipped and immaculately maintained historic home. The location couldn't be better—Walked each night to downtown after riding the Black Hills. The house itself was spotless and offered everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The beds were comfortable, with fresh linens and there was plenty of space throughout the home to relax, gather, and socialize. A big bonus for us was the ample concrete parking—perfect for our motorcycles and even space to keep the trailers. We truly appreciated how thoughtfully stocked and welcoming the property ownerswas. Highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a relaxing, convenient, and memorable stay! Hope to be back next year!!Thank you for everything
