“This Hawaiian style house has been thoughtfully and carefully renovated so that it retains the charm of the 1940s plantation house but is totally comfortable for a longer stay. We loved it. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you need - including a wine fridge and plenty of dishware and cooking utensils. Large airy rooms, including a sun room off the kitchen and a dining room. “This is an amazingly beautiful place. You can see the ocean from the bedroom, and when the weather is clear Maui too. There are so many stars on clear nights, and we saw several rainbows. The whole property is basically a tropical garden, with little paths through the woods and citrus and avocado trees, which guests are welcome to enjoy as much as they want. “Kohala Lodge is not just a place to stay, it is a destination. If you visit the Big Island, it is one of the bucket-list experiences you must have. Scenic, tranquil, magical all come to mind. Sit on the expansive front porch and contemplate that you are on an island in the Pacific with a view of Maui in the distance. Feed the animals with pellets provided by the owner. When the breeze gets quite cool, you can build a fire in the stone fireplace with wood provided by the owner. I did not cook, so……
