Dodd Fell Tours

Room was fine, staff were pleasant but the main issue was that it was really cold at all times. It was stormy late October day and the property badly needed heating I arrived 4pm, it was really cold. It's not possible to turn on the heating in the room as it's one main control so when I went out at 6 I told reception that it was really cold. The lady said she had put it on 20 mins ago and it would heat up I was going out but she said it would be hot when I got back and I could get a heater at reception if still cold. Returned at 11pm, freezing. Ordered dominos and went down to collect just before midnight- asked guy at reception for heater and he said I wouldn't need it as heating was on I explained room was freezing and he came up with me, he went in first touched the radiator and said it was warm, then left again. I ate my pizza still feeling cold, checked the radiator and it was... Cold. I gave up, put track pants and t-shirt on and slept clothed. Woke up cold and checked out Possibly the heating had been on at some point, but either not for long enough or not strongly enough to be noticed. From 4pm to 9.30 next morning and was only out 4-5 hours but wasn't warm at any point. It could've been warm in the hours I was out but was stone cold on return so it doesn't seem likely Maybe I just had an unlucky room, but it's not easy to recommend somewhere when you complain about the cold twice, are told you can have a heater then denied when ask for it! Stay in summer only!

The hotel was lovely, room was clean and had everything you needed. Staff lovely and friendly, the only down side was that our food order was not written down when it was taken, which resulted we got an incorrect food order, things were missing and also received food we had not ordered and could not eat but when explained it was soon rectified quite quickly and staff were apologetic. Overall stay was very good and would stay again.
