Beyond the most ideal location possible on the main shopping street and next to the Belvedere di Taormina, Hotel Metropole offers outstanding rooms and amenities like the pool overlooking the cliff and the main bay. We were so delighted by the authentic service level that prides itself on thoughtfulness. When we asked for a taxi to take us to our day trip boat, we were so surprised to see two beach towels and water in a beautiful tote in our room (we didn’t even ask). When we asked for our rental car the night before our wine tour excursion, the staff arranged for the car to be ready in the port precisely for when we requested. The hotel is built into the mountain, requiring different elevators, but staff was readily available to guide you to your room. Breakfast offered the most perfectly prepared Sicilian pastries and granita, in addition to well cooked egg options. As a small hotel, loungers and couches were always available poolside. The Infiniti pool instantly makes you relax as it drops off into the seaside horizon. While we booked too late for a sea view room, it didn’t matter at all. Our room had a balcony over the walking street, where we had drinks before dinner as we people watched. The only thing that could be improved is upgraded flatscreen TVs that are native app enabled for Netflix and other services. Don’t hesitate to book. It will make your time at Taormina so relaxing.
