It is a walkable distance from where the ferry leaves you off. Be sure to stop in at the Welcome Center for a map if you're looking to walk on your own. Also be sure to have a water with you because it is hot

It's all uphill getting there but worth the hike. If it's a warm day, go early. Allow time to explore. If you're into unfamiliar plants or larger versions of what you are familiar with, don't miss the moat. We just sat around and relaxed and enjoyed the views of the city and the harbor- again, morning is better. In the afternoon the sun will be in your eyes unless it's cloudy. The Skirling (bagpipes) is enjoyable-check the listing for day and time.
