"- Beautiful location. You come here for the views and the nature. - Check-in was a bit annoying, since there is no front desk and everything is supposed to be virtual, yet you are not given your room number or passcode virtually - that is texted to you. That was a problem for me as an international traveller with no working cellphone. Had to message the owner and have the information emailed to me. - Everything was very clean. Some things were dated, such as the shower head and toilet, which should both be updated, but the owner is in the process of renovating. - Beautiful, cozy, clean, and cool common rooms and building overall. - Game room is about as dilapidated and broken as tou would expect. But there certainly is one! Free kayaks to rent down by the water, which is super cool. No lofejsckets apparently, however. - Biggest complaint: be prepared to take a hike with your luggage from the gravel parking lot to your room uphill. It’s quite the journey. This is a ski chalet, after all, so no parking right by your door like a motel. - No tv in the room, if you care about that. Wifi was good enough for streaming. - Overall, be prepared for no proper front desk, beautiful property, clean if dated rooms, and fun stuff to do. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through or planning on sticking around for a while. Would recommend for families and kids. This is a gem. "

"This property was just as advertised—and everything we were hoping for as a family vacation destination. The prior reviews are all accurate—this is a lovely cabin in the northwoods. The communication and correspondence with the hosts was prompt and very helpful. The layout of the cabin was just about perfect for our young adult children and their partners—and we loved having two separate decks for morning coffee and listening to the loons. A beautiful fire pit, plenty of chairs, and lots of water equipment down at the lake was everything we needed. 10 stars top to bottom for Bakkestua!"

"This was our second year at the chip lodge. we liked it so much the first year that we had to come back. the first year we showed up there was maybe 15 people and the house easily accommodated us. its a rustic vibe. things are old and perhaps that is the charm and what we like about it. the highlight for us is definitely the slow cruises on the pontoon boat as we explored the lake. The kitchen is huge and designed to feed a lot of people. Gary is a nice guy. He lives right next door which is helpful if you have any questions about the lake, boats, lures, fishing, and everything else. The view from the large deck is exceptional. Enjoy your stay here. I'd recommend this place for any large group."

"The motel was tastefully decorated with wood floors and north woods style furniture. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I would stay there again."
