8/10 Very Good! (701 reviews)
I would rate Azka Hotel 4 out of 5 stars.
Azka Hotel is officially a 5-star hotel, and while the overall facilities are very good, I don't feel the rooms and some aspects of the service currently live up to a true 5-star standard.
The biggest issue is that the rooms feel dated and are in need of refurbishment. In our room there were visible marks from what appeared to be previous roof leaks, chipped furniture, and areas where the finishing and beading/trim were either poorly done or missing. These may seem like small details, but they are noticeable and not what you would expect from a 5-star property.
We also had an issue with the safe, which took three days to get fixed. We had to chase several times and found the response from staff quite slow and at times unresponsive. At a 5-star hotel, maintenance issues should really be dealt with much quicker.
The hotel has some very good sports facilities, but when we tried to use the squash court, the lights could not be switched on, meaning we could not properly use the court.
Another area that really needs improvement is the evening entertainment. It seemed to be catered almost entirely towards Turkish guests, with very little variety for international visitors. We stayed for five nights and on three of those nights the evening entertainment was essentially a concert/video being shown rather than a proper live performance. This was particularly disappointing when neighbouring hotels appeared to be putting shows! Thx
