“Room was small but well equipped and great for my needs, staff were friendly and the breakfast was amazing.”

“The host was friendly helpful and I had an enjoyable stay. Welsh breakfast was delicious and of high quality. Bedroom is spacious and comfortable. It is a bit away from the castle but 10 mins walk from pubs and restaurants so it is quiet at night. Host was helpful in trying to get me a taxi for Sunday which was a bit of a chaos. If I pass by there that would be the place I stay.”

“I had been to the Black Lion three years before visiting the area my kin folks left in 1838 to come to Ohio. The accommodations and the meals were great. We went to the Welsh Library in Aberystwyth and hit the mother load of information of our ancestors in Lampter and Betws Bledrws.”

“A really pleasant stay overall. The room was generously sized, clean and well presented, and breakfast was a good spread to set you up for the day. Finding the entrance on arrival was a little tricky, though that's more a familiarity thing than a reflection on the place itself. Would happily return and recommend.”

“We were so impressed, it was a last minute booking when we were so exhausted we couldn't drive anymore. The beds were so comfortable, I enjoyed the pool facilities, so clean and well maintained. The restaurant on site had amazing food and even gave us a big tray to bring our food to the room after room service ended. I would recommend to others and stay again. “We stayed here for one night in the oriental suite, which was huge and more like a small flat with separate sitting area. The hosts were very helpful and informative through out our stay. Breakfast items were provided in the fridge in the room which we liked! It is located in a nice area close to all amenities. We would stay again and maybe try a different room next time.”

“Reception staff sullen; restaurant staff overrun, service slow. Food quality poor. Hotel looks good but otherwise nothing special. Shower awful - hot then cold, lost pressure during my shower. Grounds have some interesting photo opportunities for weddings but disjointed and tacky for any other time.”
