I actually asked to talk to the manager so that I could COMPLIMENT the hotel. I stay in Marinette a few times each year and this hotel has become my "go-to" place to stay. The staff is genuinely friendly; the rooms I've stayed in are spacious and clean and the complimentary breakfast is pretty darn good, too. I travel a lot throughout the year and I stay in dozens of hotels. This one is at the top of my list. This was my 3rd time staying with them and I've had wonderful experiences each time. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm gushing, but Independence Stay offers everything I want in a hotel. I highly recommend them.

New and clean.

The Islands Resort was ok. Beautiful golf course, clean common spaces, very friendly staff. The room we stayed in was clean, but very outdated and had paint chipping off the walls. We knew the spa was closed prior to coming. We did not know that their upscale restaurant was also closed prior to coming. We ate at the bar and grill the first night, which was fine, but typical bar food. We planned on a nice dinner the following night only to find out it was closed. The bar food was too greasy for me to eat there two nights in a row, so we ended up at a local diner instead. We were very disappointed as we were celebrating an anniversary. The continental breakfast left much to be desired. Overall, our stay was fine, but definitely not resort quality. It was more like a La Quinta or Bear Western.
