"Beautiful property! Clean, cozy and very unique! Check in was a little strange - there is an international number, on a sign, to call when you arrive. That is how you find out which igloo is yours and how to enter, etc. I was a little worried, but the phone was answered quickly and check in went smoothly. Very neat experience! Would return!"

"We stayed here for one night in April 2026. Though we did not partake in any outdoor adventures with the company, they all looked exciting. We did eat dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and were very happy with the quality of the food. What makes Midgard Base Camp stand out for lodging is the lobby area with its different seating areas and seating choices. There is a laundry facility (reasonably priced) which was super helpful, and they offer drying systems for shoes, coats, and bathing suits. The rooftop hot tub is pretty cool! There is also a small kitchen if you prefer to cook your own meals. Our room was quite spacious. We chose a room with a private bathroom, and it was very quiet. We overlooked a horse farm and a mountain range. All staff members were helpful and friendly. What a cool place!"

"We only stayed for one night on the way to Vik but really enjoyed our stay in the lodge which was perfect for our family of 4 with two children 12 and 7. Lodge was clear, well equipped and and the sauna was great. The American Bus Cafe is 30 seconds walk and great place to get a. Morning pastry and coffee. Recommend. "

"Great location for exploring the southern coast, and the property is clean with beautiful views. Our cabin was sandwiched between the communal parking lot out front and an active construction site out back, complete with exposed septic infrastructure and loose wiring. The construction lights also impacted stargazing and northern lights viewing. The advertised hot tub turned out to be communal, attached to the reception building, and far enough from the cabins that you need to drive there. WiFi was weak in the cabin. The accommodation felt tired and cramped for a family of five. Mattresses were uncomfortable, and supplies were stingy: two toilet paper rolls for five people over four nights, and no shampoo or conditioner, just body wash. Every other place we stayed in Iceland covered the basics. Extra-fee signage throughout added to a transactional feel. The breakfast is marketed as a highlight (and priced at around $100 for five). Ours wasn’t. Tomatoes and cucumbers were past their best, bacon was undercooked and fatty, fruit was unripe, and the muffins tasted off enough that the kids each tried one and stopped. We’d had a nearly identical spread at Efstidalur that was genuinely our favorite breakfast in Iceland. Go there instead. We left after one night of a four-night stay. The front desk comped the breakfast, which was kind. A partial refund for unused nights would have gone further, but wasn’t offered."
