Despite the characteristic warm and sometimes hot temperatures in this part of Florida, Germain Arena in Estero frequently has people of all ages ice skating to music on one of its three rinks. Rent figure or hockey skates at the arena to join others during the weekly public skate.
Skating is only one attraction at this 171,000-square-foot (15,900-square-meter) building. The arena has hosted popular acts and concerts, such as Cirque du Soleil, Stars on Ice, Elton John and Sting. It’s also the home of the East Coast Hockey League’s Florida Everblades. Enjoy a pre-event meal or drink in the Breakaway Sports Pub or the Big Cypress Club overlooking the stage area below. An admission ticket is required for entrance. Dinner reservations are highly recommended for the pub. Drinks are available at the club but dinner here is restricted to members. Concession stands offer food and drink choices. Private pre-show events may also occur at various locations in the arena.
In the 26 luxury boxes, viewing is prime. These spots have mostly multi-year leases for hockey games. For special occasions, a single box is also available for one-time rentals. Enjoy a drink in the pub after a Florida Everblades game. On Fridays, the players generally come here to meet fans and sign autographs.
Purchase tickets online or in person at the arena’s box office. Find the arena off the interstate highway in Estero, between Naples and Fort Myers. Pay to park in the lot that holds 2,000 vehicles on a 30-acre (12-hectare) property. Remember where you parked in this large lot as things can get confusing when everyone leaves the arena en masse.
