Perfect Cabin for Large Family with Kids
We had a great time staying at this property. In total we had two families, and 5 children staying. The downstairs game room made the perfect space for the kids to play. The kitchen was large which was great for the evenings we stayed in and prepared large meals for everyone. The bedrooms were spaced out well enough so everyone had privacy, & the bunk rooms were awesome for all of the kids. We also LOVED the access to the river and bike trails. We kayaked and rode bikes during our stay. We even floated by the house during one of our Kayak trips. Overall it was great and we will definitely be booking again for our annual trip next year.

Biking and Fishing trip
Five friends enjoyed New River Lodge greatly. The house was well equipped and clean. Large rooms, a large back deck and a sweeping front porch were all perfect for evening gatherings. We used the outdoor grill for a great steak dinner. Easy to get down to the new river trail. Head north and west 13.5 miles to Pulaski, and south and east 40 miles to Galax. The only glitch was the trash bin was full on our arrival but a call to the management company had the crew out within half an hour to fix that. Perfect accommodations for a family or small group of friends.

Fabulous cabin!
The cabin was beautiful! There was plenty of room for everyone. Plenty of dishes, pots pans and any supplies i could possibly need. There were a few maintenance issues i addressed with the property manager when we checked out. We have verizon cell phones which of course didn't work outside of the cabin. So download maps on your phone beforehand or print them out. I had asked for a late checkout a week before our reservation, he said ask me the day before your stay, so i did, he said ask me the day before you leave, so i did, he said message me in the morning , so i did, several times, with no reply. Finally at around 10 he messaged me to say it was too late, the cleaning crew were already out for the day. Very irritating. He clearly knew we wanted to check out late for a long time, he could let the crew know the day before. I guess he was hoping it would be rented that day, but since it wasn't the crew could have been told but weren't. Very annoying.

Just what we needed
We were fortunate enough to spend our Thanksgiving in this adorable home. It was very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, and I believe the fresh mountain air made thanksgiving taste just that much better! I’m very glad that we packed our groceries ahead of time as the closest store was a ways away. The trail is beautiful, the view is incredible! We were very pleased!

Absolutely beautiful log home! It was the perfect accommodation for our family of 13. We had a family reunion at Claytor Lake. It was a bit of a drive (20-30 minutes), but that was not a problem.

I liked the house - very open. I did not like the communication of getting to the house and being told over the phone that I could not enter the property until I signed an agreement. That should have been taken care of days before we arrived. Also, the downstairs smoke alarms went off because of low batteries.

I stayed at this location with 12 of my friends and we had the best time. It was extremely cleaned, spacious and very well stocked. We also were able to bring 2 dogs with us and they had plenty of room outside to run around and enjoy the space. Would highly recommend to anyone with a larger party to stay at.

Christmas Tree Hunting Weekend
We stayed at this property with extended family to find and cut down our family Christmas tree. The house was very comfortable for all members of the family and provided amenities for all meals and relaxation. The game room was a hit for the kids and the fire pit was very well used. There could be a few more lights added since there are a few darker areas in the house. We did have one item of note which was a live bullet was found by the youngest member of the family. Not to thrilled about that find.

Great stay!
We had a wonderful time at the lodge. The 2 fridges were great b/c we hosted thanksgiving for the family. The extra table and chairs were a big plus as well. Kids loved the lower level game room. Cell service didn’t work for us in this location but we were able to use the internet for calling and streaming devices. The family dollar store is 10 min away and great for any last minute items.

Beautiful setting and home, not close to anywhere - prepare.
This home was clean, well decorated and had ample supplies. The kitchen had everything you'd need. Linens were nice. Views were calming and we saw many deer. We were 3 couples who selected this home because its right off The New River Trail (biking/walking rails to trails). The directions to the path and river access were helpful. The river is shallow and calm enough for kids to play in. We sat our folding chairs in the river in the hot afternoon, delightful. This home is 20-30min away from anywhere and roads wind around. Do not rely on cell service to find your way. Wifi worked pretty well throughout the house but better in rooms closer to the modem. We brought all of our supplies for meals with us. Was disappointed that there were not screens on the windows for the downstairs basement bedroom and dining room. Also, there was a short alert alarm when anyone entered/exited a door to the home (front door, deck and basement). I can understand the benefit with little kids in the home but it was really annoying that we didn't have the code to turn it off. I called and asked for it. Mgmt said they'd ask the owner for it but we never heard back. It was a beautiful home and I'd recommend it!

Relaxing Getaway
Let me start by saying, this property is beautiful, and we had a great time. Location is 25ish minutes from the nearest town, so make sure you prepare accordingly. Backing up with a hiking trail and the river was convenient. They are dog friendly, which is a plus. This place is quite big and would be perfect for larger families. There were nice touches when we arrived. They had a back of coffee available and a little smores kit with the basics. The property had plenty of bedding, pillow, blankets, ect..The check-in process was easy with the code box. Now, this is not meant to take away from the property, but i think it's important to offer some ways to improve. Would I go back to this property? Maybe....The cleaning really needs some re-training/improvement. There was old water inside the Keurig machine, so it had an old musty smell, so we stayed away from that. There were old food crumbs under the kitchen table that our dog was happy to point out. I understand this is a cabin, so I have no problems with bugs, but there were several dead hornets located around the house and there were a lot of cobwebs that could have easily been cleaned to make it look nice. The large window above the deck was really, dirty looking. Maybe it is just me, but cleanliness really elevates a property from just "Ok" to "I can't wait to go back." This is a small one, but there are a lot of light switches. Maybe some easy labels to know what switches people need to flip to The furniture, particularly the kitchen chairs, need to be replaced. The cushions had lost all support, so they were not comfortable to sit on. Some of the mattresses were older spring mattresses, so not a whole lot of support for those you need a more comfortable bed. The master suite downstairs had the most comfortable bed, so I’m glad there was one. One last thing that could be changed, the firewood location. We had good weather, but it had rained a few days before we had gotten here, and the firewood is out in the open. I grew up camping, so I’ve made many fires. There was no hope for that wood being left out the elements. The wood needs to be kept off the ground and covered when left outside, so it was nice they left us a little smores package, but it was a real bummer that we couldn’t sit outside to enjoy a fire. So, again, would I go back? For the price, I would personally go some place else. If they address these issues and make improvements, I would love to go back and update this review.
