The downside: We aren't fancy travelers in the least but at 430 in the morning our first night I was finding us a hotel room for the remaining 2 nights of our trip. The room felt like a shoebox that you could hear every bump and step from other guests beside and above. The bed is a double pushed up against the wall was not comfortable at all. ...

The couple that owns the motel are the main highlight: you will struggle to find more gracious, hospitable, friendly and helpful hosts anywhere in Newfoundland. The facilities are lovely and very distinct. The meals we had were excellent, including their very special (and very abundant) Jiggs Dinner which they offer every Sunday starting around noon, in the motel's main dining facility. “We loved the sophisticated feel of staying in an older, elegant home. The breakfast was amazing and so nicely served in the dining room. Our room was very nice, and large. What we didn’t enjoy was the hilly walk from the parking to the house then a narrow staircase to our room. It was quite challenging.”

“We had a spacious suite , unfortunately it was very dimly lit, and three nights in we found silver fish in two locations in our room. We alerted the manager , and on a 7 night stay was offered a $40 credit without an apology. After voicing my concern that they may have gotten into our suitcases, clothing , etc. His words were it is a dampness bug that usually doesn't climb.
