Classic Colorado Mountain Cabin! Nestled beneath the majestic Twin Sister Peaks on 2.5 acres. Come and get away from it all at Whiskey Rapids. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, washer dryer and fully stocked kitchen, all within 25 minutes to Salida, 45 minutes to the all natural powder at Monarch Mountain, and minutes to the Gold Medal Water of the Arkansas River.
**During Winter Months it is HIGHLY encouraged that guest have ALL Wheel Drive Vehicles and/or snow chains. Pinon Vacation Rentals is not responsible for providing any type of towing services.

Reservations may be canceled more than 30 days prior to check-in with full refund minus a $125 Cancellation fee or a $75 Change fee if applicable. No refunds will be issued after this cut-off date for any reason. No refunds will be issued due to weather conditions.**

Wonderful, private cabin in the mountains
Whiskey River was as beautiful as shown in the photos. It was cozy, comfortable, and a wonderful retreat. It met the needs of my "I need to get up in the mountains!!" itch. Not a complaint, but an FYI: the outdoor 'Edison bulb' lights stopped working. We left them unplugged. Not sure if there was a circuit tripped (we couldn't find a breaker panel to check). The kitchen faucet is getting loose: may want to tighten it up, so it works better. The instructions for the pellet stove and projector are out-dated. We figured it all out, but had to do our own research. There is also no dishwasher, though the instructions say to start it upon leaving the premises. Again, not complaining -- just providing information on our stay. I gave only four stars for cleanliness: there were several dirty dishes in the cabinets and silverware drawer. We had to wash everything prior to use, because they were filthy. We were shocked to find these items in the otherwise clean, tidy place. We know we left the dishes cleaner than we found them (scrubbed off cooking/baked-on grime from several pots and pans). We left some of our own coffee for the next guest to use. (Only one pot was complimentary? Seriously?) Other than the dirty dishes and the FYI items mentioned above, we very much enjoyed our stay, and the service and communication we received from Pinon.

Awesome place to stay
We had a great time—such a cool cabin. Our favorite part was the big yard and deck. We played yard games and ate food outside at the big table. The inside was clean and well-decorated!

Perfect Summer Basecamp

Peace and quiet with a view!
This property was just as described. It was large enough for our family of four and our dog. The house was clean and the surroundings were peaceful. The only other souls we saw were the deer that walked quietly by the house each day. This is a wonderful place for a quiet getaway.

First Family Vaca
We had an amazing time. It was our first full family vacation, not just a weekend getaway. The views from the front deck make this cabin an amazing stay. The cabin is older so it has some creaks but had nearly everything we needed for the week. It was close enough to everything we had planned for the week to keep us busy. We did lose power because of inclement weather so it made things a little spooky out in the wilderness but we were able to get more supplies after texting which made things much cozier for the rest of the stay.

Adorable cabin and fabulous property
We loved everything about this property! The cabin was just adorable and newly redone it seems. It was decorated so nicely! It was very clean and well stocked. The property was very private with a great view! Our grandsons loved roaming the property. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

Definitely served its purpose!
Overall, we enjoyed the home and its location. Just a couple of things…be very cautious of the stairs. They are very steep! Also, they have a projector but no cable or satellite tv. You could only use streaming devices. Definitely was not a deal breaker, but just giving a heads up for those that may be thinking otherwise. We had no issues with the WiFi though. I would recommend to others.

Beautiful Spot!
My husband and I spent our elopement weekend at this amazing cabin. The location is perfect - close to Salida and a wonderful view of the mountains. The property manager was super responsive during our stay. The projector is awesome for a movie night, and we loved roasting s’mores using the fire pit. The indoor wood stove also makes the cabin very cozy in the fall/winter weather. We definitely recommend this spot. It’s also close to great hikes and hot springs.

The house was great, bed comfortable, and kitchen well stocked. The only problem we had was with the directions to the house. I did not try to call the property manager, because I did not have cell service, but if you are going to this house turn on Cherry Lane in Howard. STAY on Cherry Lane until it ends at Smith Road. It turns into a dirt road. It says in the directions a highway 47, but there is no sign for it until after the turn. We really enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. Saw many deer and elk while at the house.

Nice little house with enough room, although I wouldn't call it spacious. 3rd bedroom is really a loft with no privacy but, lots of room to spread out. The stairs up are a bit treacherous so kids or agile adults only to be safe. The lack of AC during a hot July made evenings a bit uncomfortable, but, there are several oscillating fans provided to help move the air. The small kitchen had everything we needed and the nice sized dining table made for a great place to play cards and games with the family after dinner. The gas grill was great for burgers and came with an extra propane bottle to make sure we had plenty. Overall, this was a really good jumping off point for all of the outdoor activities we enjoyed while visiting the area.
