This is well-appointed modern hotel that is centrally located at the end of Laugavegur Street. It is right across from the fabulous Hlemmur Food Hall and Lucky Records, a Reykjavík institution for music fans. The rooms are comfortable and European chic. The breakfast buffet is delicious and a great way to fuel for a day of sightseeing. The spa is well-kept and a good way to unwind after a hard day of touring. This hotel is used by large tour groups and there are times of day when the lobby and restaurant are crowded and a bit chaotic. This did not detract from our stay and the rooms were quiet. Iceland has become very expensive since I was last here 4 years ago—and this hotel is no exception. Whatever you have budgeted for your Reykjavík stay—double it! Iceland makes Switzerland look like a bargain!

Adventurous hike up to this waterfall. The hike is called Glymur. We had to walk through knee high water, jump rocks, use ropes to climb up steep cliffs, cross multiple rivers, walk on side of cliffs using narrow pathways, and walk through slippery mountain sides. Well worth it and made it even more exciting of a hike. I would suggest going here when visiting Iceland. It's approximately 1 hour and a half from Reykjavik. I took this photo while I was sitting on the side of a cliff overlooking the waterfall. Birds were flying side to side to their nests.
