Athens, the national capital, is about 75 miles (121 kilometers) to the southeast of Itea.
It comes as no surprise that Itea is a perennial favourite with travelers from all over the world; the region has been blessed with terrific cities, attractions and landscapes. While you are traveling in the Central Greece area, try and get to Delphi. It's roughly 9 miles (14 kilometers) from Itea and is home to the Ancient Delphi and Delphi Archaeological Museum. Alternatively you could stop by the Parnassos Ski Centre and Hosios Loukas in Distomo-Arachova-Antikyra. It is 12 miles (19 kilometers) away from Itea.
Organize some transport and spend some time in Aigialeia, a shopping and transport center for the region, located some 25 miles (40 kilometers) away from Itea. The place has a wide range of tourist attractions, such as Diakofto Train Monument, Vouraikos Gorge and Nikolaiika Beach. Tsivlou Lake and Panagia Tripiti Church are just a few of the other interesting attractions on offer here.
If the weather makes you want to head indoors, head to Central Greece's theaters, history museums and art museums. This area is known for its fine fortresses; these are wonderful windows into the area's rich past.
Central Greece is a good place join a fascinating guided nature walks, winery tours and cycling tours that are offered here. Pack your equipment or rent it locally, and make the most of the region's water sports. Swimming is a good activity to try. Another option is boating.
When the time comes to leave Itea, use your last euros on last-minute souvenirs and bid a fond Yiá sou (farewell).
