The bathroom toilet kept partially flushing, on its own volition every minute and even with the bedroom door shut, it sounded like a a perpetual whimpering dog all-night! The staff were quite helpful but it was badly let down by the smell in the place which was not great and also dowsed with cheap air sprays making it hard to breath (I have asthma). The bed was ok and seemed clean despite the odd stain that hadn’t washed out of the sheet. Room was comfortable and clean, had everything we needed. Breakfast was nice as was the owner. No complaints, except perhaps the limited ale/beer - could have had more variety of Hobson or other local breweries than lager/cider which meant we only stayed for one pint, before finding a pub that had beer we enjoyed. The hotel dates back to the 1600s and is very atmospheric and full of history. Although no evening meal was available the full English breakfast in the morning was excellent.
