Krabi Vacation Packages
Krabi is often nicknamed the “Gateway to Paradise” because of its proximity to Thailand’s stunning tropical islands. This riverside town is surrounded by verdant jungles and bordered by the Andaman Sea to the west. Make this your base from which to explore the surrounding region but also take time to discover local attractions, including superb restaurants, art galleries and a weekend “Walking Street” market.
Wat Kaew Temple, located in the city center, is a good example of Buddhist architecture. If you enjoy Wat Kaew, head to Wat Tham Sua. Also called Tiger Cave Temple, this structure sits atop a mountain just outside the city. Although the climb to the temple is demanding, it’s well worth the effort because from here you can enjoy panoramic views of Krabi and the surrounding sea and countryside.
Make the most of Krabi’s proximity to popular beaches, such as Railay, which is known for its quintessential tropical atmosphere. East Railay Beach is a hot spot for budget travelers and has a bustling nightlife. Visit West Railay Beach for a pristine shoreline and a dramatic landscape popular with rock climbers.
Ao Phra Nang Beach, typically called “Ao Nang,” is another renowned tropical getaway. Just 20 minutes from Krabi by taxi, this beach is a perfect daytrip destination. Sunbathe on its white-sand beaches, swim or snorkel in the perpetually warm water or go kayaking to explore the area.
Although it is the region’s capital, Krabi is relatively quiet and gets fewer tourists than surrounding destinations. Visitors will appreciate the authentic Thai character of Krabi. Try traditional dishes at outdoor cafés and stroll along the riverfront to get a feel for Thai life.
Krabi International Airport is 9 miles (15 kilometers) outside the city center. Flights go to and from the capital city of Bangkok daily. Once in Krabi, you can get around the town on foot or by taxi or songthaews, a common Thai ride-share vehicle.
