Nice room on top floor; unfortunately no lift. Good facilities except no bath. Breakfast was included and this was hearty and served with a smile. Food was high quality. There was nowhere to dine in the evening and eating out options in Stromness are limited so we’d recommend booking meals before you start your stay. There was nowhere to park at the hotel but we found a free long stay car park above the hotel - though the path was treacherous in wet weather. This must be a great place to stay if you need the ferry but otherwise I’d recommend staying more centrally in Kirkwall.

The Ferry Inn is a combination hotel/pub with breakfast included on our booking. We ate dinner both nights in the pub restaurant. The food was good & they had several choices for each course. The location was excellent for the Scrabaster/Stromness ferry & it was easy to navigate to Kirkwall & all the sights.

"This hotel is conveniently right by the ferry terminal. There is an elevator but when we stayed in late June 2025, the elevator was broken. We brought a car to the island and it was difficult to find the designated parking area behind the hotel; even with GPS there is no clear sign for the hotel ..."
