"Old Carriage House converted into a wonderful apartment. We loved the location of this stay. We were just a short walk down from Colchester Castle and High Street, where we could find a wide range of pubs, restaurants, and shops. The city centre train station was just a short walk away as well. Thank you to our host for the awesome check-in and also for the lift to the "other" train station for our trip back into London. If we are ever in the Colchester area again, we will definitely stay...

"We stayed at the apartment for four nights while visiting family in the area and had a great experience. The apartment is spacious, very well equipped, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There are two flights of stairs to access the apartment — this wasn’t an issue for us, but it’s something to bear in mind for guests with mobility considerations. "Lots of dust on the skirting next to bathroom Reception does not answer calls ,called 3 times and doesn’t call back Restaurant : the waitress promised to bring child dresser at the end (it was ice cream ),but it was not brought but we were charged for that ,realised just next day that dessert was not brought Overall nice location and nice balcony view"

Holiday Inn Express Colchester by IHG

8/10 Good

"It’s a holiday inn next to a garage with a Waitrose. It’s a fairly nice one tho. Lovely reception / dining area. Bathrooms superb. Tv a little old but ok. Heating not working but had an electric oil radiator. Food fairly poor and very expensive like similar holiday inns. Breakfast was ok. I’d stay here again tho if necessary."

Holiday Inn Express Braintree by IHG

8/10 Good

"Lovely stay. We booked through hotels.com. Booking was easy. Staff at the hotel were lovely and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. Room and hotel was clean and well maintained. My only comment would be the kettle in the room could do with descaling, this put me off abit that I wasn’t able to have my morning coffee."
