Appreciate the youthful atmosphere among revelers and sunbathers near the sea. Stroll along the canal and in the park.

Milano Marittima is a dynamic resort that draws young crowds to northeastern Cervia. The entertaining area with bars and shops is the ideal counterpart to the historic center of 17th-century relics in the old town. Visit sandy beaches in front of dense pine forests, making excellent photo opportunities.

Enjoy the view from your spot on the 5 miles (9 kilometers) of shoreline in the region. Clamber over rocks leading out into the Adriatic Sea. Swim in warm waters with friends and dry off in summery heat. Rent beach chairs and umbrellas to plant on the sand.

Relax to the sound of waves and birds while kids beachcomb for shells and other treasures. Gaze up at the Marinella skyscraper symbolizing the development of the resort in the 1950s.

Watch the sun descend in the evening. Then visit the resort’s bars. Make friends with local residents and other vacationers.

Discover the picturesque canal running through the center of Milano Marittima. Green plants, bushes and trees line the banks and creep over the water. Have mud treatments in the Terme di Cervia spa near the canal and explore the large natural park of Pinewood of Cervia – Milano Marittima and the butterfly house of Casa delle Farfalle nearby.

The park incorporates Milano Marittima and Cervia. Enter its large greenhouse to see many colorful butterflies. Peruse the insect house with bees, crickets and other small animals.

In the town’s northeastern section is Colonia Varese, the fascinating remnants of 1930s Italian Fascism. Fig trees and other vegetation grow through the eerie abandoned building.

Milano Marittima, part of Italy’s Ravenna province, is just south of Lido di Savio and northeast of Cervia. Fly to Rimini or Forli and rent a car for the 1-hour drive. The railway line up the Adriatic Coast offers another option to reach the town.

The area has warm, dry summers and mild winters, when the beach is less crowded. Enjoy the lively atmosphere around the bars and shops of Milano Marittima.
