It wouldn’t budge after several attempts, so I went back down to the office for help. She gave me keys for the room next door, and they worked! However, the heater wasn’t working and the room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. I called her and she came up with keys for another room. Yes, everything worked! There was no fridge and no coffee pot (coffee was there) which meant I had to get dressed and go down the cold outside stairs to the dining area for my wake-up coffee in the morning. Everything was clean, bed was comfortable, though the covers were worn with holes in them. Room was clean, although it may be time to replace bedspreads that have cigarette burns. I would suggest to the housekeepers/launderers that they separate the linens used in smoking rooms from those used in non-smoking rooms. I had requested non smoking. They supposedly had no other non smoking room to move me to. The first room smelled like urine and the A/C was questionable. The front desk staff was accommodating and moved us to another room. The second room had one lamp on the night stand for the entire room. The desk chair was broken so you had to work with your elbows at shoulder level if you sat at the desk. There were vertical lines in the TV. The mini fridge was missing a shelf and so iced up that it was practically useless. The advertised breakfast was nothing more than yogurt, coffee and bread/stale muffins or packaged mini donuts. The hotel staff was unable to address needs and concerns and indicated that management had been told of the problems. We were awaken in the middle of the night by someone trying to get into our room by force.
