The rooms are old fashioned but comfortable and warm ( when you work out how to turn the heating on (why don’t they tell you?)): staff are wonderful and the food is excellent. Breakfast is really good with continental and cooked meals, evening meals are brilliant, they seem a little expensive until compared with neighbouring restaurants after checking, but the variety and quality is really exceptional. Service is good, efficient but not over friendly, and exactly as it should be. The extensive grounds provide the perfect backdrop to this hotel. No information book in our room and receptionist miserable. The food was not good I had to send my steak back twice and then order something different all my family had eaten there dinner and I had to eat on y own £12.00 for a pudding.
