Mount Elgin Vacations from $850

This hotel has no active employees overnight after 11 pm. I arrived after 11 pm and the self check-in was really smooth and easy...but when my A/C unit stopped working in the middle of the night, there was nobody I could call to help. My room was 31 degrees the entire night and I couldn't sleep for a minute in this sweltering and unescapable heat. I was sweating through my eyes it felt like, and nobody that could help me. After a sleepless night, the reception didn't seem to have a lot of sympathy when I checked out. I was dripping in sweat and on my way to meet clients. The hotel gave me a 40% discount on the room as compensation, but that's not nearly enough. I would have PAID DOUBLE for a room with A/C. It was one of the hottest nights of the year and 40% off quite simply felt offensive for one of the worst and most uncomfortable nights I have ever spent in a hotel. IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST HUMID DAYS OF THE YEAR AND MY ROOM WAS 31 DEGREES CELCIUS. A full refund would have been the only way that I felt like they made me whole, which would have avoided this 1 star review.

Clean room - super friendly and accommodating staff. Great location and spot for a getaway.

Things not appealing about this motel: There are several homeless people that hang out most of the day and night right next door to the motel. The motel charges $16 per day for parking whether you park in the outside parking lot or the indoor gated lot. The bathroom fan is obnoxiously loud. It is on the same switch as the bathroom light. There is no way to turn off the fan if you want to see when you are using the bathroom. Grab and go breakfast is unappealing. Appealing things about this motel: Clean and quiet (accept for bathroom fan).

Great stay. First time and will never be the last time.
