"The place needs serious renovation and cleaning. It can be old, but that doesn’t mean it has to be unacceptable. The room smelled of mold, the walls were cracked, the room was dirty, there was old trash left in the trash can, the door lock was broken, and the air conditioning was brutally noisy.
It was so disgusting that we ended up using our own sheets and our own pillows because we didn’t feel comfortable sleeping on what was provided.
The only thing I liked was being able to park right in...

Excellent place to stay in Olney. The accommodations are good with the bed being very comfortable. However, what made my stay here so great was the staff's friendliness and helpfulnes. They made my visit here OUTSTANDING (Caps intended). From the front desk staff to the those who cleaned our rooms to the breakfast area staff...they ALL were great. Can't say enough about their attention to the "customers". I definitely will stay here when I return to Olney.

Very clean, friendly, I have stayed there several times and never been dissatisfied, WiFi, ice, fridge and microwave, why pay more for everything you need there!

The best area to stay in Mount Erie is the immediate vicinity of the main intersection of US Highway 45 and Illinois Route 15.
This area serves as the modest commercial center of Mount Erie. You'll find the few local businesses, including a general store and a gas station, concentrated around this junction. It's a small, quiet village, and staying here places you at the heart of what little activity Mount Erie offers.
For solo travelers or couples seeking a tranquil retreat and a genuine small-town experience, this central area provides convenience for accessing the local amenities.
When is the best time to go to Mount Erie?
Mount Erie, Illinois, is primarily a rural area, and the best time to visit depends on your preferred activities and tolerance for weather conditions.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and exploring, late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October) offer the most pleasant weather. During these periods, temperatures are mild, ranging from the 60s to 70s Fahrenheit (15-25°C), and the natural scenery is at its peak with blooming flowers or fall foliage. This is ideal for couples or solo travelers looking to experience the tranquil countryside.
Summer (July and August) can be warm and humid, with temperatures often reaching the 80s or 90s Fahrenheit (27-35°C). While this is a good time for those who enjoy warmer weather and don't mind the humidity, it might not be as comfortable for strenuous outdoor activities. Families traveling with children might find this period suitable for visiting local farms or enjoying lakeside activities if available nearby.
Winter (December to February) brings cold temperatures, often below freezing, and the possibility of snow. This season is best for travelers seeking a quiet, reflective retreat, or for those who appreciate snowy landscapes.
