Highly recommend this hotel. The most unbelievably incredible view of the alps and Lake Thun (make sure you book a balcony room). Wonderful breakfast included (not just continental). Sauna, steam room wellness spa on premises. Friendly people, and cute mountain town; just about 15 minutes from Interlaken. Loved this hotel, we returned and booked another night after some traveling around the area.

This was a disastrous stay. Despite the premium prices this hotel charges, their maintenance is diabolical. I had to call various staff 4 times before they fixed the portable air conditioner in my room. This ranged from not informing us that the aircon would stop working if it filled up with water to the outlet pipe repeatedly falling out of the window vent. On the fourth complaint, the front office assured me it would be sorted out while I was out for the day. We got back to our hotel at around 1.30pm and NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE. When I went down to the front desk the Receptionist looked at me as if this was the first time I was reporting this. She had no explanation as to why the issue had not been sorted out. I asked to see the General Manger. I got various muted responses as to why I couldn’t see him, from him leaving for holiday that day to not knowing when he would be back. What General Manger takes a holiday during peak season? Eventually the Front Office Manager intervened and got the situation sorted. What an awful experience. The only excellent staff were the breakfast staff. They were fantastic!!

The rooms were really good - I love the design. The church bells can be a little loud if you like to sleep with open windows. I didn’t mind it; after an active day in the mountains, I sleep like a rock. The breakfast was so so; we must be spoiled from other hotels before. Location is perfect to start your day trips and the staff was happy to help with that as well. We were able to walk to a little spot just 5min away to take a swim in the lake as well - very convenient.
