My host and landlord, Gary, was very friendly and accommodating. The room was very comfortable with a fantastic power shower and comfy bed for the night. The dining was wonderful and of an extremely high standard both with the quality of the food and the speed of service which was fantastically prompt. The ambience created within the village pub meant you felt relaxed both with the locals and other guests staying there to the extent that I stayed on after my meal to participate in the quiz they hosted and took a very creditable third despite it being just myself taking part. All the staff made us feel really welcome, the rooms were comfortable and clean and the food was great. If it is sunny the bear garden is a lovely spot in the afternoon/evening. Good place to start a walk to Bowerman's nose and Hound Tor. They go out of their way to accommodate every request. Rooms are always spotless and modern furnishings. Situated in the Dartmoor National Park it is the best location for exploring the outdoors. The food is delicious and homemade.
