“Gorgeous hotel with wonderful staff. I don’t think they’ve marketed it very much yet (or else the gays aren’t as keen on Crete) because we were the only gays staying there. Full of straight couples and lots of straight PDA at the pool.. strange for an Axel Hotel. As for the location, it’s about three or four hours drive from the best attractions of the island - all much farther west. The AC unit did leak onto our faces as we slept, so we had to stop using it.”

“Bella Vista is a small, family run hotel. It’s a bit of a walk to the nearest beach (40 mins) but what it offers more than compensates for this. Eli, Spiros and Melanie are the most welcoming team we have ever had the pleasure to meet. I am sorry not to know the name of the chef, the other breakfast lady and the lovely housekeeper. The location will provide a very authentic experience of Crete. Literally 5-6 walk to a square full of restaurants and Tavernas which are all excellent. And where……

“Zimmer war sauber und okay. Die Toilette stinkt leider nach Abfluss. Es ist leider einfach zu laut durch die Flugzeuge. Davon ist die ganze Umgebung betroffen. Das wissen die natürlich auch, aber tun nichts dagegen. Keine dichten Fenster, keine gedämmten Wände. Der Lärm geht komplett durch und man wird hier ständig durch den Lärm der fliegenden Flugzeuge gestört. Ich würde nächstes Mal lieber in irgendeiner Vorstadt von Heraklion bleiben.”
