Have a train-loving family adventure discovering a historic locomotive and an interesting landmark in the city of Sylvester, near Albany.

Ole Engine 100 is a fun and entertaining attraction to get familiar with a cool piece of history in Sylvester, the seat of Worth County, Georgia. The steam train ran the rails of Georgia-Ashburn Sylvester-Camilla railways from 1930 to 1948. Learn about the interesting history behind this amazing machine and enjoy a few hours outside in a family-friendly park.

Discover a beautiful locomotive that has been restored and maintained in great condition. It still whistles, which always delights the little ones in the family. It was used as a popular means of transportation until 1957, when it was replaced by the diesel engine, the new cutting-edge generation of trains. Take close-up photos of this old-fashioned engine that was donated by GASC railways to the Worth County-Sylvester Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sylvester. It was then put on display for everyone to enjoy and kept as a valuable piece of history.

While you are in the Ole Engine 100 area, be sure to explore the pleasant park where it’s located, T.C. Jeffords Park. Wander through this open public area and see its fountain, several covered shelters, large green trees and nice vegetation. Enjoy lunch on its picnic tables and let the children frolic on the playground located behind the steam engine. Jeffords Park also features a stage for public performances, a parking lot and tennis courts. Come here for the Georgia Peanut Festival in October to enjoy a parade, beauty pageant and unusual peanut treats.

After enjoying Ole Engine 100 and the park, stroll around the town. Spot interesting examples of architecture from the early 20th century in this picturesque area.

Find the popular Ole Engine 100 and T.C. Jeffords Park on East Franklin Street, near the intersection of two highways running through Sylvester, about 20 miles (30 kilometers) from the city of Albany. Admission is free and the park is open every day of the week.
