Created by Diablo Dam, the lake is located between Ross Lake and Gorge Lake on the Skagit River at an elevation of 1,201 feet (366 m) above sea level. The unique, intense turquoise hue of the lake's water is attributed to the surrounding glaciers that grind rocks into a fine powder that is carried into the lake through creeks. More than ten days later, we were still receiving emails from the hotel urging us to pay for valet parking. But we hadn't used the service at all; we parked ourselves, paid for it ourselves when we left, and we have receipts. But they kept emailing us saying we hadn't paid. We had already sent them all the receipts, but they still kept pressing me for payment. This stay was a terrible experience."
