Really nice place to stay!
Very quick walk to the beach or you can drive it if you have a lot of gear. The parking lot was never full while we were there. Great house with lots of space and every kitchen thing you could ever possibly need to cook a meal. Welcome basket was a really nice touch. My daughters loved the bedrooms upstairs and my youngest loved the little pond. Tons of deer and squirrels in the yard, which was super interesting to our dog. We used the game table, had a bonfire, and were able to get the Michigan game on the TV. This is a very nice place to stay in Charlevoix!

Perfection
This is our 2nd year at the Hideaway. It is an ideal place for families. Some of my group had to work remotely and the space (indoors and outdoors) allows everyone to do what they need to do without interfering with anyone else. It is well-stocked and well-located for beach and walks to town.

Perfect up north house
We enjoyed our stay at the hideaway. We enjoyed the location with 5 minute walk to beach access as well as easy walk to downtown Charlevoix. The hideaway was best of both worlds, quiet and relaxed up north feel with outdoor deck and pond features, but also close to downtown. My kids enjoyed the basketball hoop, yard games, 3-1 game table, as well as all the other kid friendly features like craft table and reading nook. House layout was great for our family. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you should need. We were surprised by a wonderful welcome basket to enjoy during our stay. We e joyed our time and would definitely stay here again.

A few minor flaws, but overall it was great
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time here! The decks could greatly benefit from replacing the decking. Walking barefoot on the current deck would likely result in splinters. The kitchen was well stocked, there were a few yard games in the garage, a 3-in-1 game table (pool, ping pong and air hockey) that got plenty of use while we were at the house. The yard is…large and the location is outstanding! It is a short walk (5 minutes if you walk slow like me) to the public access point for the beach, and every trip to the beach resulted in a great number of petoskey rocks, Charlevoix stones and sea glass. It is about a 5 minute drive to all of the stores and restaurants in Charlevoix, and about 20-25 minutes to Petoskey. There were a couple of doe’s and their 4 fawn that came to visit every day and were not easily spooked. The pond was our favorite feature of this home. It was so peaceful to sit out by the pond to start the day or at the end of the night while looking at stars, or, really, any time. The owners were fantastic! They checked in by text a couple of times during the week to make sure everything was going ok and they had a welcome basket filled with a number of local treats (I think Cherry Republic owes them a commission for all of the items we got there thanks to this). There are plenty of books available to borrow while you are there too. The only thing I think they could have made available is a few board games or puzzles to choose from for a rainy day so you may want to bring some of your own. All-in-all, I would stay here again, or recommend it to others.

Very quiet with deer on the lawn every day. Even though you are relatively close to town, it felt like the country. Very nice house and the owners were very accommodating.

Magical!
The Hideaway was the perfect place for my family's vacation home. The hosts welcomed us with a most delightful basket of local goodies and flowers as well as providing an extraordinarily clean and fresh abode. I cannot say enough about the outdoor space--plenty of room for all to enjoy (and reluctantly work remotely). This is also true of the indoor space--it is plentiful and well-furnished. A true gem!

Beautiful home, relaxing property, lovely location
We really enjoyed our stay at The Hideaway. The property is so pretty and quiet, just want you want for a relaxing vacation. It is close enough to town but far enough away to feel immersed in nature. The yard is beautiful with a relaxing koi pond and waterfall and plenty of outdoor furniture for outdoor meals, s’mores and relaxing. We all enjoyed the pond’s fish and frogs plus the nightly visit from the deer. The house is extremely well-stocked, more than most rental homes. It is also very clean and well kept. The grill and flat top were huge perks. We rode our bikes to the Mt McSauba area trails and did some hiking there also. Also enjoyed the short walk to Lake Michigan and short drive to town. Going downtown is walkable but maybe a little long for children or older adults. We had 3 kids and 5 adults so sleeping was a little tight but we managed with a child on an air mattress and a child sleeping in the alcove. I highly recommend this property for a Charlevoix vacation, but also good central location for other day trips to Petosky, Harbor Springs, Traverse City and more.

Hidden gem in Charlevoix
My family and I (including 2 babies under age 1 and 2 small dogs) stayed at this property and had a great time! The home is minutes from downtown Charlevoix and is walkable to a public Lake Michigan beach and Mount McSauba. It is also very close to scenic North Point. The home is updated and has a few beautiful patios. There is also an attached garage for storing your things or your vehicle during your stay. John and Ellen have a beautiful home, and they are very responsive to any questions and will do everything they can to ensure you have a great stay. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Fun times in Charlesvoix
We enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and even though the kids had heavily restricted internet access, titled was fast enough for us to enjoy a movie last night with some popcorn. The powerboat races and the downtown art fare provided fun activities when we weren’t rock hunting.

This property is so cute. Charleroix is a great town for a summer getaway and the lake is very close The house. Our group really enjoyed hanging out in the back yard and using the grill that the house has / spending time by the fire pits. The owners were very responsive and super helpful.
