Sonder facilities had many shortcommings and deficiencies. 1) The rugs were either old, or not stretched enough consisting on a safety hazard. I had to remove them 2) On my second night (out of 7) he bed broke. I had to sleep one night on a broken bed and 2 on the floor. Correcting this took nearly 3 days. 3) The facilities had no on-site staff, which made it more difficult to request assistance. 4) A balcony was advertised, but I could not use it because there were workers and equipment there during my stay. 5) Parking was not available. I understand they notified in advance, but it is LITERALLY not available anywhere. I had to park half a mile away and paid a ridiculous fee. 6) The provided access codes to enter the building and room didn't work. 7) The staff that was sent to work my bed's issue was very friendly and polite. Kudos to all three. 8) The kitchen exceeded my expectations. Very good. 9) The bedroom itself was extremely small, making it difficult to navigate 10) There was a small room with a desk serving as an office which was not advertised, and I wasn't expecting. Very pleasant surprise to be able to work during my stay. Kudos! 11) I found earplugs and an 'environment machine' or something like that, that produced pleasant sounds for our stay. Positive feedback here. This is overall how I felt, but the fact that I had to rearrange heavy furniture in order to accomodate the mattress to sleep made this stay impossible to recommend.

The Tidewater is a strange and historic building in an amazing location, with all the best of Philly at your doorstep. The views from the apartment are mesmerizing!

Everything was nice. Only problem was check in and check out time. Usually standard times are 12pm check out and 4 pm check in. But they have reduced the time. Check in time 5 pm and check out time 11 am. And you can’t request even a minute extension, Because there is staff.

Everything about this place was fantastic except for the bed. Hard as a rock. Otherwise, exceptional location, exceptional view, very hip, kitchen was extremely well stocked, and it was fun to see people playing on the across the alley rooftop.

Challenging check-in process
The room was fine and the view was great. The location of the building is convenient. What was really challenging to say the least was the check-in. The system didn't work to enter the building. We spent some time on the phone with someone. The problem was not solved in the afternoon. Then we got stuck on the 4th floor, and couldn't go down in the elevator! We chatted for 20 minutes! We ended up requesting a fob. The whole process of not having someone on-site generated a waste of time and a lot of stress. The address on the building is not visible. Then the sink in the bathroom didn't drain properly, but we gave up because I didn't want to spoil my weekend chatting.

I stayed in the Sonder Tidewater in Philly. Not only did the AC not work, but they never fixed it and ignored my requests to do so instead giving me a fan. I had to resort to cursing to get them to come to the apartment to check it. The AC control was hanging off the wall. Most ghetto thing I’ve ever seen. No windows in the unit open. In the summer in Philly, you can probably imagine it was a toaster in there during the day and reasonable hot at night. Refused any sort of refund request for a $750 reservation other than $80 which I have not received and it’s already been a week. They claim the AC was fixed, but when I told them it wasn’t, they thought $80 would suffice and ignored future requests.

I’d probably not stay again.
The outlets didn’t work, there was no guidance on how to access elevators and the property and when I asked depending on who was at the front desk, depended on the success of my entry and departure. I wouldn’t recommend unfortunately

Loved it! They mean it when they say fully stocked. Beautiful room, very hotel clean with an Air B&B accessibility to it. Tidewater is right in the middle of everything without being too close to Center City. Our first but definitely not last stay at Sonder. Already planning our next visit!

The communication was excellent and the room fantastic. Good place for a quick stay. It was noisy (walls seemed super thin) & parking was hard to find and called for an early wake up to move vehicle. These are minor hitches though in a good place close to food, culture and grocery.

The room was well appointed and clean. The hallways were dirty and not well maintained. The lighting by the building entry and elevator was dim making the pad difficult to see. I would recommend this hotel.

Great stay in the heart of the museum district!
We had a whirlwind 48-hour trip to Philly and found this little gem. We just booked the small Studio apartment, but it was a perfect fit for a short trip for two people. Plus its super close to a ton of museums, parks, bars, and restaurants. Plus a Target! I highly recommend Umai Umai for dinner and Sabrina's for breakfast. Both were phenomenal! PROS: *The Bed was SO COMFY! *The towels were ah-mazingly soft *This place was close to everything! *Easy check in/check out process *Super clean *Great bathroom *Wonderful value *Like most refurbished buildings in Philly, the building has a cool history *Free wifi CONS (if I had to be picky) *The elevator was a little strange - it also goes through to the liquor store attached and two people from the liquor store got stuck in the elevator with us during our stay. *I wish it had dedicated parking. We parked at the lot around the corner and on the street and probably spent about $36 on parking over the day and a half we were there. But thats pretty cheap for the city as a whole! All in all, we had a great experience. This was in the heart of the museum district and there was so much within walking distance we could check out. A great value for a couple looking to get away with a clean, comfy, no frills room.

There was a little confusion getting to my room (the entrance is on Shamokin) but the room itself was great, the location was perfect, and I had no other trouble the entire stay.
